Customer Review: OPK tests work great! Pregnancy tests- not so early detection

I bought this product prior to getting married in which my fiance (now husband) and I were waiting to become sexually active. My purpose was to know my cycle for prevention rather than conception. I didn't want to use birth control for a number of reasons, mainly the excess hormones that cause mood swings. I used the OPK tests for 6 months prior to getting married and they worked great! It's indication of pending ovulation within 24 to 48 hours was exact and they were very easy to read. I did end up getting pregnant on our wedding day, however that was my own fault. The OPK test indicated ovulation within 24 to 48 hours 6 days before my wedding day. That is 2 days until ovulation and then 3 days that the egg stays available for fertlization. Any woman using Natural Family Planning Methods knows that you always give yourself an extra day on top of that just to be safe. That however was my wedding day and I thought, "Oh it will be ok, this one time." (I did not want to protect with our first time.) Yeah, I am now pregnant (and happy to be even tough we did not plan him) and my wedding day was the date of conception. So needless to say, my period should have came right on schedule and did not. I began testing for pregnancy with the provided early pregnancy tests a week after my honeymoon which was 7 days after my missed period. They did not pick up my pregnancy. I continued to test each day that my period did not come. For an entire week they did not indicate pregnancy. Finally I thought about trying a home pregnancy test from the local pharmacy. I used a digital early detection and it came up on the first try "pregnant." A few days later I decided to test again using the Wondfo pregnancy test just to see if they worked. It finally came up positieve about 3 days after I received a positive from the digital. So I absolutely recommend the OPK tests, but the pregnancy tests, though they work, you have to give them more time to detect the pregnancy hormones. I personally did not purchase this product for the pregnancy tests, but rather the OPK tests and was very satisfied. Their ovulation indications always lined up with my tempurature reading and my discharge indication as well. And should I have not gotten pregnant I would have begun to use them solely without the confirmation of my temp and discharge. I had gotten to the place where I trusted their reading so that I did not need to use the other two indicators. Overall I highly recommend the OPK tests. If you are purchasing this product to assist in getting pregnant just remember that the pregnancy tests take a little longer to detect.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone, produced by the developing placenta shortly after the conception and secreted into the urine. The pregnancy test contains antibodies which specifically react with this hormone. WHEN TO BEGIN TESTING The length of the menstrual cycle is the duration from your first menstrual bleeding day to the day before the next bleeding begins. Determine the length of menstrual cycle before test. Please refer to the chart below to determine when you should start testing. If your cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 38 days, consult a physician. If you do not know your cycle length, you may begin the test 11 days after your first period since the average cycle length is 28 days. Perform 1 test each day over a 5 days period, or until the LH surge has been detected. PLEASE NOTE: LH tests cannot be frozen.
