Customer Reviews of Conair CHV14JXR Extreme Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo RollersCustomer Review: Thought these were for long....wwrong!!!! Summary: 2 Stars
I bought these about a month ago. Okay, first, if you have long curly hair (middle of back or longer and almost all one length) you will need two sets (can't anyone make a large set 14-16 curlers) and extra pens (which they never include). Second, the actual curler needs to be a little longer. Third,I know the curlers are big, but still could be bigger, much bigger. These are "supposedly" made for women with LONG hair....if so they missed the mark. Maybe shoulder length. I have been curling my hair on and off since the 80's so I know how to use hot rollers, yet all these years later, I still feel like I have my old high school set.....sheesh!
They do get hot, they do curl. BUT I had to use my 1.5" curling iron, once I ran out of curlers with my hair hanging off the sides of the curlers, to finish my hair. I will be purchasing some really large velcro curlers. Save my hair from the heat, plus I let me hair air dry anyway.
P.S. And WHAT is the deal with the pens...are they really that expensive to make that the company/maker can't included lots of extras?? I mean really!!
Customer Review: These don't work for me at all! Summary: 1 Stars
I liked the flocking on the rollers so my straight hair didn't slip out so easily, BUT the wire clips scrape off the flocking. Also, the wire clips for the super-jumbo rollers are not long enough to stick out beyond the roller enough to hold the hair! The roller just flipped right over the clip and fell out. I tried it different ways and couldn't get them to work. (I used rollers with these clips for years, so I know how to use them.)
Also, even though I rolled the hair on the rollers smoothly, my hair came out with awful crimps! I'm guessing it's because of the slot in the middle that goes all of the way through to one side the roller. Then there's nowhere in the case to store the clips. Where do I keep them? Couldn't they have made a slot so I could keep them with the rollers?
By the time I finished rolling my hair, the rollers were so hot as to burn my hands. When I took them out after they cooled, I had to use my curling iron to fix the crimps in my hair, and there was very little wave after an hour. I can't stand these rollers, and they're going back right away.
Customer Review: Not For Me... :( Summary: 3 Stars
Well i bought these because they were one of the top rated ones for people with long hair. This is the first set I have ever purchased.
They were supposed to create wavy sexy hair and they might of if I had more rollers or if my hair was not as thick. I have long (halfway down back) and very thick straight hair. I have so much hair that I need two boxes of hair dye just to cover it all... I couldn't get all my hair in the 12 rollers with my first try and with my second try I just jammed packed each roller. To no avail, the curl just fell out immediately. I guess I could have done two sessions or bought two sets but I don't have the time or money. I have a toddler boy and little tolerance for spending too much time to get ready. Its to bad tho cause I LOVED that this set had just jumbo and super jumbo rollers. Think they would be perfect for ALOT of people tho. They heated quickly and were super velvety.
BUT i would purchase clips too because i hated those metal fish shaped clips.
:( I returned them and am still researching what one I will buy now.
Customer Review: Beautiful bouncy waves for long hair Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried several different sets of hot rollers recently, and I love these ones.
Reason #1: they have a velvety covering on the roll, which helps hold the hair in place while you're rolling it up. Some brands have a slick surface on the roller, and my hair slides right off.
Reason #2: they heat up fast. No waiting around for 10-15 minutes for the rollers to get hot. They heat up in just a few minutes and are plenty hot enough to get the job done. I tried one brand that said it heats up in 90 seconds. Maybe, but they were barely warm enough to create a curl.
Reason #3: plenty of curlers, all one size (large!). Other brands have at least 4 very small curlers that I never use. This set is perfect for someone with long hair and no bangs, therefore not needing the small curlers.
Reason #4: the pins are easy to use and don't leave marks in my hair like some brand's clips do.
I get lots of compliments on my hair when I use these curlers. I really love this set and I'm so glad I bought it!
Customer Review: I Have Frizzy Hair Summary: 5 Stars
I have the frizziest hair on the planet. Yes I know what you're thinking but honestly, take my word for it I do. Maybe the frizziest hair in the universe. Uncontrollable medium thick hair down past my shoulders. I used this product and it was absolutely wonderful. I did not experience any discomfort using it, it was not that hot at all. It was pretty easy to use as long as you do what the first reviewer Joanna suggested. Put the clip OVER the curler on top and rotate it into the best possible position. MAKE SURE YOU LET THE CURLERS COMPLETELY HEAT UP FOR 5 MINUTES AND THEN LEAVE THEM IN FOR 20 MINUTES FOR BEST POSSIBLE RESULTS!!! And don't cheat. USE ALL THE CURLERS (or most of them, there are 12, plenty for all your hair, won't work as well if you use just a few cause you're in a rush). My hair came out without a drop of frizz in long wavy slightly curly strands. And with LOTS of volume. Looked great!! I definately recommend this product for people like me and even, as I have seen, for people who have very straight baby fine hair. Very well made product.
