Customer Reviews of Conair CHV14JXR Extreme Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo RollersCustomer Review: OK for Curler Newbie Summary: 4 Stars
My stylist told me to buy a hot roller set for my long layered hair. I have never used them before so I have to tell you that I was amazed that it only took me 10 minutes to set my whole head of long hair. I noticed a difference if you really let them heat up for a good 8 minutes, yes, they are hot after 2 or 3 minutes, but you notice that they get hotter as you are using them up, causing one side to have tigher curls than the other, so just plug it in while you are blow drying or doing your makeup. This set is great, gives you that happy big curl waves. My only issue is that it just doesnt last in my hair. I dont like alot of product, so I try to avoid heavy hair sprays, but maybe I need to use more to get the curls to hold longer.
I also invested in the Conair SPC10X Super Clips, to use insead of the pins. The pins work fine, but the clips are under $9 and just easier and quicker to use, so do get them.
Customer Review: Great body...but with 'crimps' Summary: 4 Stars
I got these from my husband for Christmas this past year. I love the curlers. They work very well, however they give more of a body wave than a curl because the rollers are so large. While those aren't the results I would like, they still give me very pretty, full, wavy hair, so I am happy with the way they work. BUT...I also have a complaint about the clips. I don't have any problems at all keeping the clips/rollers in...you just have to put the clip straight up and down against your scalp so that they can't unroll...I can do all sorts of things with them in and even forget about them sometimes. My problem is that the clips leave crimps in my hair where they attach. They cause little indentations in the set of your hair and it stays because of the heat. So I always have to iron the crimps out after I take the rollers out...sort of defeats the purpose of using rollers to save time. Otherwise, great product.
Customer Review: Conair CHV14JXR Extreme Heat Jumbo and Super Jumbo Rollers Summary: 4 Stars
These rollers really do heat up quickly as claimed, under 2 minutes. I have the older Conair rollers, which did take longer. I bought these for the Super Jumbo rollers. Finally, there are larger hot rollers. I gave these a 4 star rating simply because I would rather have all Super Jumbo rollers, and am buying a product where I am wasting money on rollers I am not using. The four Super Jumbo rollers make spending time on my hair so much faster, it is worth it to me. Also, once you purchase this full set, you will find with the directions, an address and cost for buying more Super Jumbo rollers--which I have done. For 4, I believe it was only $7.50, including shipping. Since my older Conair rollers are several years old and still working, I expect these will last for a long time as well. And the bonus is that they do heat up quickly. A good purchase if hot rollers are needed.
Customer Review: Not for fine hair unless very, very thick Summary: 3 Stars
I recently bought this to replace my jumbo velcro rollers I use for volume. I was hoping to get volume on the fly. I have baby fine, somewhat thin shoulder-length hair. Even with the recommended clips you buy separately, I could not keep these rollers in my hair even while standing still - kept slipping, sliding and falling out due to the weight of the rollers and slippery clips. Be aware, what they call jumbo are really the large size velcro and their super jumbo would equate to jumbo size in velcro rollers. So it's back to wearing 5 jumbo velcro rollers overnight on top of my head (it helps to use a roll pillow so rollers are not in contact with pillow or bed). The unit did heat up quickly and didn't seem to burn my hair although rollers were briefly hot to the scalp. Maybe if you had very, very thick fine hair, you could pull this off but even then, I'm not sure.
Customer Review: makes me want to use it everyday Summary: 5 Stars
the ease of using this product is amazing. i'm a person who doesn't even own a blowdryer. i'm into washing, air-drying and combing my hair and getting out the door. i never went near rollers before and i got the hang of these after a couple tries, though my hair still managed to look pretty decent after the first try. i love the way it makes my hair look, very full and i turn quite a few heads when i use them. i have extremely straight, long, dyed asian hair that's not too full or too thin but it keeps my waves in without too much hair product. even a curling iron doesn't keep the wave in. you can go for the va-va-voom or natural look with these. i love that they are flocked (with the velvet fabric over the roller for less damage) and how they get hot quickly. 100% recommended and i'm even getting these for my best friend for her bday!
