When I started college in 2002, I had just begun to learn the wonders of the flatiron. I have always had long, thick wavy hair that's prone to frizz. One of my dorm neighbors had this very flatiron, and keep in mind this was over 5 years ago. I used it once, and was amazed with the results. I went out and bought my own a few weeks later. The model I bought is almost exactly like this one, only there isn't a turbo feature. Regardless, I am still using the same flatiron to this day. It has lasted through being dropped, borrowed and used almost every day for over 5 years. This is unheard of for a flatiron. I don't know if this model will last as long, but I think it will. I am looking to buy one for my neice for Christmas, and perhaps get myself a new one, just for the new features! Anyway, before you go out and purchase a HAI or a CHI, give this flatiron a try. It's amazing!
Note: I borrowed a friend's CHI flatiron a few months ago, and it was HORRIBLE. It didn't straighten my hair at all. She paid 100 dollars for it, and the track record on those things is just under a year. Very overrated if you ask me. They certainly don't live up to the hype.

i recieved this product a while ago & i was anxious to use it after i read all these great reviews on this site. it influenced my purchase of the straigntening iron. i must say, i was not dissapointed. my hair is very course & very curly. i was surprised that this straigntened my hair after passing my hair thru it only once. with other straightening irons, i had to pass it thru over 5 times before i even began to see parts of it start to straighten.
i wish i had found this product years ago. would have saved me a whole lot of bad hair days. i even used it on my sister & cousin's hair. they both were stunned at how their hair looked. my cousin said she now has movie star hair. its true too. it didnt dry out my hair at all or leave the ends of the hair looking like 'what the heck happened there'. i had shiny straight movie star hair.
i just might buy one or two more of this straightening iron for my friends & just to keep as a spare. its just that good. its not difficult to use. read the instruction booklet. & given proper use & care, this should bring me (& you) great results for a long time.

The Conair Instant Heat Flat Iron is the first flat iron I have ever bought. I was a little hesitant because I come from the old days of burnt hair from curling and crimping irons. Well times and technology have changed and I must say I LOVE THIS FLAT IRON! I have medium to thick slightly wavy hair that has only ever looked good after coming out of the hair salon after a $$$$cut and blow out. My hair is amazingly shiny and pin straight from using this iron. You can now see what my hair really looks like: shiny and soft with layers. I use it at about a 15 setting and I am never dissapointed from the results. I like the attachable comb(leaves a neat combed section) and the width of the iron. It lets you cover more ground quicker.I have alot of friends that have spent over $100 on a salon quality flat iron. They cannot believe what I tell them I have spent on mine from Wal-Mart. I dont know how long it will last Ive had a it about 2 months but for the price and the results Ive gotten so far its definitely worth it.Even if I have to buy one again down the road.Customer Review: Cheap AND Good?!?!?!

I read several reviews on amazon.com before deciding which straightening iron to buy. I had considered paying over $100 for some that were "recommended by professionals" but, after coming to my senses, I decided to put my faith in fellow reviewers who liked this product. Believe me, they weren't kidding!
I was particularly excited to see how tight of a grip the plates could get around my hair while the smooth ceramic surface prevents snagging and breakage-- my hair just slid right through perfectly. I couldn't believe what a difference it made in the way my hair looked-- so shiny and smooth. I wore my hair down yesterday, after "straightening" it with a big-barrel curling iron, then today after using the Conair straightener-- first thing this morning, my boss said "your hair looks so nice!"
Obviously, I can't speak to the longevity of the product, but I'd feel a lot better about needing to replace a $20 straightener vs. a $100+ one. Those expensive irons must either be magic or overrated, because this affordable one is amazing!

I bought this 8-9 months back, and its amazing. And more importantly, I am a guy with not-so-long hair.
Pros:
1. It comes along with a comb which is very comfortable.
2. Auto power off. I always tend to forget switching it off, and it shuts off automatically. No worries.
3. Comfortable grip
4. Gets hot quickly.
5. The comb is detachable. I just take it out and wash it regularly.
Cons:
1. The plastic handle is flimsy. Each handle is made of 2 pieces held together by a screw. The screw is already screwed up in my piece (after nearly 3 months of use). Right now, I have held them together by a rubber band (and it works just fine). I used to travel with this a lot though.
2. It actually takes more time to cool down (approx 15-20 minutes). So if you are traveling, and use the straightner just before heading out, then you need to wait for atleast 10-15 minutes before packing this.
Having said both pros and cons, I really love it. And believe me, it works well for guys too!
