When i first got this product, i was in love with it. It heated up fast and really did a good job. I had finally found a straightener that could make my ringlets pin-straight. After a month it was still heating up wonderfully, but when it hit the 1 1/2 month benchmark it stopped working! The first time it didn't work i thought maybe i just forgot to turn it on so i unplugged it and plugged it back in and made sure i turned on both buttons, the turbo and on button which i usually use, and i MADE SURE that they were lit up. Still no luck! I took it to my dad and he said that the heating element had burned up, probably because it was cheaply made. I loved this straightener because it does the job fast, but i would suggest that you not buy it if you would like to save your money. If you are looking for a great straightener, get the Revlon Professional 2" Ceramic Straightener Model RV045C. Does the EXACT SAME job as the conair, but lasts for years.<br />

Previously, I owned a flat iron that I purchased at a local beauty supply store. I really liked it because it was sturdy but lightweight and still did a fabulous job (tourmaline wet/dry and it was cheaper than a chi!) but since I was moving overseas, I gave it away (different voltage) and bought this one...
A huge plus is that this is dual voltage. You might not think it matters, but trust me, the transformers are not meant for flat irons so finding a dual voltage flat iron is awesome! Now I can take it anywhere with me...and you never know when you might have the opportunity to travel.
This flat iron does a nice job at straightening the hair, and I like the temp. control adjustor, but the build of the iron itself is what irks me the most. It's not balanced, so the iron half of the tool seems very heavy and the handle feels cheap and hollow. I have long thick hair and using this flat iron for a long time is not very comfortable. It could have been better designed, but all things considered, it does a nice job for the price.

I have very curly hair. When I was a child it came down in ringlets. I have tried other conair straighteners in the past and even though it did the job it left it frizzy, even the older model that uses steam. I took a chance and bought this one months ago and let me say IT ROCKS!! for all those with naturally curly hair will know what I mean when I say nothing makes it smooth but this does. Highly recommend it!!!
Update: I have had this for months and love it but I decided to try one of the newer ones with Tourmaline so I got CS31T The infinity ceramic with tourmaline 1"..Tried it this morning and its awful. I did a few stands on one side with the infinity and a few strands on the other with the one rated here and the infinity did nothing but frizz even on the highest setting and it was double what the instant heat cost. So don't waste your money on a more expensive one. The CS19JCS instant heat is only $20 and works GREAT with silky straight results. Still loving it and going to buy more for back up..

I purchased this hair straightener back in July and have used it every week since. It heats fast and actually works, especially compared to non-ceramic straighteners I've tried in the past. I should note, however, that my hair is thin and relatively straight with a slight natural wave. This product is able to take out the wave I can't get out by blow drying with a brush. And, the results seem to last throughout the day. My only complaint is that it is somewhat awkward to hold and also the "on" light indicator isn't very bright. I sometimes have to turn the lights out to check to make sure it is on! Overall, for the price, it is a great product.
UPDATE: I've now been using this straightener daily for over five years, and it STILL WORKS just the same as when first purchased in 2005. One key to its longevity may be that I do not put any product on my hair before using it. Also, I have taken relatively good care of it and store it in drawer, but I do admit that I have dropped it a few times!

Trust me on this one. Especially for $20. When I bought mine almost 10 months ago, it was more and was still a bargain! It was my 2nd straightener. My 1st one would catch my hair (OUCH!) and it was very small, so it took forever and took many times over the same spot to see improvement.
Then at a video shoot I was in, my roommate took this one out and started to straighten her incredibly curly, kinky hair with ease. I asked her if I could try it and ended up using that one! LOL! I threw mine out and that weekend ordered mine! I LOVE IT. And, its very durable. I have dropped it a few times (ooops) and its still going strong.
If you dont think it straightens the way you want, let it heat up another min. and don't be afraid to up the setting either. Its safer to use a higher setting on your hair once, then go over one spot many times.
I am so confident you will love this product. It made this stay at home mom of 2 toddlers on the go feel wonderful quickly and easily!!!!
