I originally bought this item for the white noise background for my 3 month old so that she could sleep during her daily naps because I was tired of leaving the vaccum cleaner on for that long and the sound of the water fall has been heaven send. The louder, the better. She now naps twice the normal lenght due to the noise background. Even if your little infant sleeps deeply just once throughout the day, it is so worth the price, at least for me. I recommend this product for babies that don't sleep too deeply and wake up at every sound as well or when the room is too quiet.Customer Review: Better than I expected...

This sound machine works better than I expected it to. I made the difference in my son's sleeping habits- he definitely sleeps a bit longer. He loves the white noise; he doesn't seem to care much about the other sounds. He sleeps in my room, so it's nice not to have to tiptoe around because the noise drowns out footsteps and other sounds that might have awakened him had the room been silent. I give it 4 stars because the white noise sounds more like an off drumbeat, which is fine for the baby, but a bit annoying for some parents. The sounds it makes are fine and in fact are soothing but if you put it in a room with other electronic devices, there is a LOUD interference sound (similar to when you put a cell phone next to speakers) that occurs intermittently.
We've moved it everywhere but can't figure out what is causing the interference. Because it only happens every few hours, if we go to sleep with it, we get woken up in the middle of the night with loud screeches.
Unless you have a room with NO electronics whatsoever, I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

This machine has about 10 different sound settings allowing a great deal of choice and variety. It has become a wonderful part of my sleep ritual and truly helps me get a better night's sleep. I bought this one as a gift. I have an identical machine that I have used for over 3 years. I have never had any problem with the machine and would feel lost without it. The price I paid for it here on Amazon was about 25% lower than what they were asking for on theConair site itself and with Amazon.prime 2nd day shipping didn't cost me anything!!! I purchased this product in hopes of a wonderful nights sleep. Well folks this is not what happened at all. I turned on my Conair SU1W and snuggled under the covers after a very stressful day. About 5 minutes into my relaxation I almost received heart failure due its soothing sounds of a train wreck. The volume which seemed to have been controlled by Satan reached top volume, although I never had touched it myself. I tried to turn it down and the volume still was blaring. I unplugged and plugged it back in numerous times, and still it would not work.
