If you are looking to drown out the sound of your spouse snoring, or perhaps you have other noises that interrupt your sound sleep, THIS IS THE PERFECT PRODUCT. If you have a newborn, you can put on the heartbeat feature and the baby will sleep soundly. For stress, you can listen to the ocean or put on the white noise feature and find deep relaxation. I love it and it works on a timer as well. I put it on when I am going to sleep and it turns itself off after an hour or so. It's wonderful!!! I'd say reliability leaves something to be desired. It was OK at first; all sounds were OK for the price ($15 at W-Mart). Then strange repetitive whirring and clicking sounds developed. I'm going to try an exchange first, then will return it if need be. I'd like to try the Sound Oasis S-550 but it appears to have been discontinued. I'm not inclined to spend $90 for Oasis's least expensive model.
My 23-year old sound machine is still working nightly, but I wanted a smaller unit for travel.

Other reviews on this site said that this inexpensive item, was a bargain, so I bought it. The sounds it produces are very low quality. The white noise sounds like low quality TV static. Each of the other 9 options repeat their sound within a few seconds and are of equally low quality. I have heard white noise machines that produce a much more pleasurable and substantial sound that will put you to sleep in minutes. I bought this product mainly for the "white noise". I have no particular interest in the other sounds available, since the white noise is to block out other night noises so I can sleep. I have found that there is an underlying rhythmic noise beneath the white noise, that, although annoying, is not detrimental to the purpose, and I can ignore it, although it was extremely annoying to my sister, but since she was a visitor, I can overlook that, although someone else might not be able to do so.Customer Review: poor sound quality

Like the other review on this product... I picked this up at Walmart for under $20. But that is all it is worth really. The sound of the waterfall / rain sound almost exactly the same. The quality of the sounds are horrible. There is some odd back ground noise on the thunder storm sound. I am still on the hunt for one of these machines that actually has a 'RAIN' selection that sounds like RAIN!! But don't bother putting any money into this brand... the sound quality is very poor.
