I've used this a few times. I usually don't have problems falling asleep, and only wake up to toss/turn a bit... but generally I don't have much problem sleeping. I took this because I got some from some leftover flex-spending/medical-savings money at the end of the year. I'm mid-30s, in good health, and don't take any prescription or over-the counter medications on a regular basis.
I feel it works pretty well for people who might have trouble falling asleep. I took one, and drifted off to sleep probably within 15-20 minutes after laying down (I didn't try to stay-awake or walk around). I tried two pills the next night, because it said you could. Two pills took about the same amount of time, but while laying down I could feel a slight 'heaviness' just before I fell asleep... almost as if it was just putting me 'harder' to sleep.
The reason I took it was because I had a cold, and wanted to sleep better through the night. I had congestion problems after laying down all night. Well, I still woke up in the early morning due to the cold. But falling asleep was no problem!
There is no grogginess that I could tell. My 4yo daughter even came to our room at 3am, and I had no problem getting up to get her a glass of water and walk her back to her bed. Then I came back to my bed and fell asleep.
I'll try this more with 1 pill to see how it works now that I'm not sick anymore.
Overall, it helps me fall asleep faster/easier. Not sure how melatonin works, but this is my first experience with this type of 'natural' pill.
To compare, prescription pills like Ambien put me to sleep in about the same amount of time, but I am OUT for almost 8 hours exactly. I feel a little uncomfortable if my wife takes Ambien at the same time... with kids in the house at the same time... we might not respond to fire/emergencies... where Midnite would be no problem at all.
Tylenol PM makes me feel to groggy/slow/cloudy in the morning to use regularly... I'd only use Tylenol PM for problem-situations.
No side-effects so far with Midnite! Just don't expect to sleep through all night... which I don't think it's designed/meant to deal with.
