Customer Reviews of Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier, Dragon Shape

Customer Review: Adorable and works well to boot!
Summary: 4 Stars

This adorable dragon humidifier works well and does a good job increasing the humidity in the air. I really like the easy adjustment knob on the front of the dragon and having more than the normal low, medium, and high levels is awesome. I can really adjust the amount of water vapor by minute amounts. (And just so you know...the water vapor comes out of the eyes and not the nostrils, which I thought would be a really cool effect)!

One reason that I initially purchased this product was because of the lack of filters. I was spending an arm and a leg on filters each year, when it would have been cheaper to buy a new humidifier each and every year. I was also hoping that it would take less cleaning than a normal humidifier, but I was wrong. I still have build up that needs to be cleaned, but a lot of times the build up can be very difficult to get off. I am wondering if maybe it's the water around here. A filter for the water may be a good option, but it's not suggested in the description.

Most of the time, the humidifier doesn't even go through one tank of water in a day. It is easy to add water to the reservoir when needed though. I would caution about tightening the cover to much, as it can be difficult to loosen without the aid of a grippy jar opener. This humidifier is also easily movable, although you do have to be careful if there's water in the bottom. Just try to keep it level, and you won't have a problem. I am actually thinking of purchasing another system, so that I don't have to move this as much. Now to decide what animal would look best in my living room!

Customer Review: Bought 2, Love Them!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is our first winter in a new apartment, and we have been burning wood and using a gas heater. We noticed lots of static in the air and dandruff on our cats, so we decided to try these Crane humidifiers in order to remedy those problems. They seemed easy enough to use for a couple of inexperienced buyers, and the cuteness was definitely a factor! We ordered Dragon and Penguin. Once they arrived, I was able to get them up and running quickly after reading the instruction booklet (focusing on the troublshooting section just in case). The only issue we have had so far is that the first spot I chose for the Penguin was cushioned and didn't leave enough room underneath for the fan to draw air, so no vapor was coming out. We figured that issue out with the help of the booklet and moved it to a flat, cushion-free surface. We encountered another hiccup when we realized that our water was hard enough to cause dust to be expelled in the vapor--we found it on the outside of the Dragon (it was probably on the Penguin too, but harder to see because the machine is white) and our cat had an asthma attack from breathing it in! We ordered the filters (which I also reviewed) and it's been smooth sailing ever since! We keep one of these in our bedroom and one in our living room. I think if you're looking to humidify a large area these won't be the best choice for you (unless you buy one for each room), but for an open floorplan with about 1,000 sq ft these have been ideal for us as a "winter use only" item. Overall, we are VERY satisfied with these humidifiers!

Customer Review: Love these humidifiers
Summary: 4 Stars

I own five of these humidifiers. I own the Penguin, the Leopard, the Dragon, the Elephant, and the Frog. My favorite one is the penguin because his head is movable, you can turn the penguin's head in different directions to direct the moisture to different areas of a room. Of the five I own the penguin is the ONLY one you can do this with. Next, the leopard, the dragon and the elephant are nice units but you can not adjust the direction of the moisture, it is blown straight up into the air. These first four units I have described have a separate on/off switch from the moisture volume control knob. I really like this feature because you can set the moisture level and leave it when you turn the unit on or off. Which brings me to the last unit I own, the frog. The frog is like the leopard, dragon, and elephant in that the moisture is blown straight up into the air. However, the frog's moisture control is also the on/off control. I do NOT like this feature because you have to adjust the moisture level every time you turn the unit on or off. This is why the frog is my least favorite of all five of the units.

Customer Review: Wonderful Must Have
Summary: 5 Stars

I read some reviews that were quite horrific, but after researching several products and probably hundreds of reviews, I thought I might as well try it and for the price, it was more than reasonable.

Not only is this product adorable, but it does the job of a humidifier without noise. If you put it on the highest setting, then you can hear a mist sound, that is still quite silent. I had not had any leaking issues.

Every night I start the humidifier and shockingly, it can go on for over 12 hours (depending on how long we sleep). I always empty and let it dry out during the day. I have the item elevated as it states to do on a flat surface.

My children know this item is not a toy, so they do not bother it. I think that it helps that it is red (like a warning color). I am really not sure why they haven't messed with this item when they mess with every electronic.

Anyway, you will not be disappointed because this is not only a humidifer that does its job well, but it is cute/decorative.

Customer Review: Great Humidifier
Summary: 4 Stars

I couldn't quite give it FIVE stars for two reasons: First, I totally think they should have designed it so that the steam came out the dragon's nose! (Instead, it comes out slits on the top of his eyeballs.) And secondly, it really seems like "cool mist" humidifiers never work quite as well for me as the ones that create warm steam. (That said, this cool mist humidifier would be totally safe for kids.)

Other than that, this thing is wonderful. Small enough to fit on my bedside table, extremely easy to refill, and it can be turned on and off with a switch... All qualities I'd wished my last humidifier had. The dial also lets you decide how much mist comes out, which is nice. I have a cold with a sore throat right now, so I've been cranking up the mist... and it makes a LOT of mist at the highest level!!!

I do kind of wish I'd gotten the penguin now, by the way. The dragon looks a little uglier in person than I'd expected, but I've seen the penguin in stores and it's totally cute. Oh well.
