Customer Review: Don't buy this piece of junk!!!

I wanted to buy a humidifier for my room because it gets really dry.
This product initially looked ideal for what I needed. It has a large water capacity, adjustable mist settings, etc. Upon receiving the item, I followed the instructions but when I turned it on, it didn't work. I tried troubleshooting with the instructions that were provided but it still would not produce mist. After trying a few things out, I found that it was producing mist in the base of the unit but the mist was not being pumped out. There is a little fan in the base that is supposed to blow the mist out the top of the unit, which was not working.
To put simply, don't waste your money on this. I went back and saw that there were a ton of negative reviews for this product with people having the same problems, or worse ones. Based on the reviews, it looks like about half of the units work and half don't, (which is really poor if you ask me). You can take the chance of getting a working one, or just buy from a different manufacturer and not deal with the problems and hassle if you get a broken one in the first place.

It is small, it is quiet, it does work, but it leaks ALL over and YES I did make sure everything was sealed nice and tight.
I filled it up all the way, set it in the basin, plugged it in and turned it on around 8pm and when I woke up at 6am it was low on water and the dim red LCD light was blinking (the light isn't very bright, for those concerned with being kept awake). I didn't have it all the way on high, but there is an illustration in the manual showing how the vapors should go up into the air, not down towards the floor, so I turned it on high enough so that it would look as instructed. I guess that is too high though, because it didn't even get me through 11 hours as stated..I guess 10 hours is okay. I was hoping it'd last longer. My fault.
My eyes are still dry and red though, which is the main reason I bought it. My skin doesn't feel dried out though, as it usually gets in dry NYC apartments, come winter.
That being said, it is probably one of the better vaporizers out there, for the price, especially since I wasn't willing to drop more than $35.00

Our previous humidifier died at the end of the season last year prompting us to look for a replacement. After reading a positive magazine review, my husband decided to search Amazon to see if the Crane 1 Gallon Penguin model was available. Most of the Amazon posts were also positive, so I ordered.
The first model arrived promptly. I unpacked, setup per instructions, placed on a tray, and turned on. Within 30 minutes, I heard drip, drip, drip, and drip and discovered the tank was empty, the water was overflowing the tray, leaking onto the carpet. Initially, I couldn't determine the cause of the leak, but finally found a small crack in the bottom reservoir.
I contacted Amazon immediately and asked for a replacement which arrived promptly.
These animal shaped units are cute and the Penguin is appropriate for this season of the year. The second unit is working fine, no leaks.
Although the instructions indicate to expect 11 hours of mist to each tank of water, we are getting about 20 hours with the setting about medium.
The unit is quiet.
Customer Review: Bad smell is a deal-breaker

As several other reviewers have noted, these humidifiers can produce a chemical smell which does not seem safe for children (or anybody).
I bought the Elephant model at a big box store in Manhattan for our 3-year old's room. Seemed to work great the first night. But on day 2 after running it during naptime, a strong chemical odor almost like mothballs built-up in the room. After rinsing, drying and restarting a couple times, I realized the smell was not coming from the water tank or nebulizer, but from the fan in the bottom of the unit, which is not accessible. So I thought maybe I got a bad unit and went to exchange it at the store, but then I noticed the display model was also making the smell so I just returned my humidifier.
The smell is pretty subtle and you might not notice it at first unless you stick your nose directly in the mist. But it builds-up in a closed room and is very unpleasant. Maybe there is a bad batch of the machines right now, but another reviewer in Northern Cali had the same issue so it seems pretty widespread.

This great humidifier really did the trick. It was very easy to get started and began working right away! I have used a cool mist humidifier before, but I don't remember the last one emitting "steam" right away- within seconds. It is absolutely adorable, too! Everyone I show it to wants one! The only thing that makes it a 99 out of 100 is that, like I read in a previous review (so I expected it) is that if it is low to the ground, like say waist height versus a taller dresser, it does get the carpet a little damp. But hardly enough to even mention. Oh- I almost forgot- the shut off feature that it has REALLY WORKS! If the tank (which really does fit under your average bathroom faucet) becomes empty, it automatically shuts off! The tank holds plenty of water, more then enough to last through the night, but one time I for got to turn it off when my daughter woke up, and when I remembered about it around noon, I ran to shout it off so it wouldn't get ruined, but was pleasantly surprised that everything was safe and sound. Thanks for offering such a great product!
