Customer Review: doesn't fit in duck or penguin

The humidifiers are cute products, bought the duck and penguin, one each for our kid's rooms. While they work fine to spray the mist, this "optional demineralization filter cartridge" doesn't fit in either of these models. In the duck, the handle is in the way and the hole may be too shallow. In the penguin, the diameter of the hole is too small. I don't know if the filter will fit in any of the other models, but my suggestion is don't waste your money unless you weren't going to buy the filter anyway.Customer Review: Brown Boogers

I put this in to help filter the "ickyness" out of the water. My husband and I were very concerned when we saw that our son's nose was covered in brown boogers one morning. That was until I looked at the humidifier and discovered it was full of brown water. We had just put the filter in the night before and apparently over night it had turned the water brown and so the mist in the room was brown water. Yuck! The humidifier has been working fine ever since we cleaned it up and took out the filter.Customer Review: Just OK

My advice is to keep the original cap in case you decide this filter is not for you.
It managed to stop mineral deposits from building up further on the side of the resevoir, but the water gained a musty smell after a 15 gallons/three weeks of use. I sanitize with chlorinated water bi-weekly.
It was especially apparent in warm heated rooms. The risk of bacterial growth outweighs the benefits of the filter for me and I do not recommend this product.

I bought this for my wife to use at her "crash pad". She is a flight attendant based out of New York and was experiencing problems with dry winters in New York, especially coming from Baton Rouge. She told me that it was very simple to set up in her bedroom and that it is very quiet in operation. It worked as intended and she now doesn't wake up with sinus headaches. I tried the humidifier with and without the filter and cannot tell any difference in dust output. I have these air purifiers in the house and the blades are just as coated in thick white dust after 2 days with the filter than without it. I suppose it'll keep bacteria from building up and deposits from forming (I hope so at least). But the dust is just everywhere! Not too impressed with it.
