We have hard water and all humidifiers that I have used in the past have left a chunky or dusty white coating around the mist dispenser area of the humidifier. I did not have that problem with the Crane and I believe it is because I bought the filter with the device and used it right away.Customer Review: Does not work on Penguin

This filter does not fit into the penguin Crane humidifier. The filter rubs up against one of the sides and therefore it cannot be turned in any further. This leads to the penguin being lobsided when turned over to be placed in the water basin. Emailed Crane, but of course, no response.Customer Review: Crane Demineralization Filter is great

I used Homes humidifier, but we throw to garbage box after use a few weeks. But this one is very good, especially small size room like our apartment. So far we do not have problem except it is very sensitive to put the sensor in right position, otherwise bother the flushing.Customer Review: Flawed, but good idea

The humidifier is cute, but either the filter or the main mechanism may be flawed. Some other people mention this in their reviews. After a month, we've had to whack and jiggle it to get the light to turn green even though there is enough water and the float is working.Customer Review: hmm

It smelled like weird plastic for a whole day, but now its stopped. It seems like it just had to run water through it ^^ I think its decreased the strange smell coming from the humidifier. If you follow the instructions, I dont think there would be much of a problem.
