Customer Review: Tastes good, but you sure don't get much!

I already loaded some pictures about this one. I was really surprised by not only how small the can was,
but how little was inside of the can! However, I wanted to wait to review it until I had a chance to try it.
I had it for breakfast today. I have mixed thoughts on this one.
First off - the flavor. The taste is actually very palatable.
I mixed mine with water. I can't have milk, and wanted a water-mixable solution. This one fills that bill - it
mixed very easily in my shaker cup (also available on Amazon). It tastes more like a French vanilla - fairly
sweet, definitely drinkable. A big plus is that there is no aspartame in it, which I am also allergic to...
this uses Stevia as its sweetener.
Quantity: this one gets a little weird. It takes one scoop (which you have to dig for - it settles
to the bottom of the can. I used a spoon to dig it out) for only FIVE OUNCES of water! I already had
8 ounces in my cup. Rather than mess around, I tried one scoop with the 8. Looked like diluted skim milk!
So, I added a second scoop. Still very, very, thin mixture. The taste was better, I didn't look at it,
and thought this was where the French vanilla flavor started to really come out. It still wasn't really good
though. "Yummy" was not on the list of adjectives that came to mind. I added a half scoop of
strawberry Spiru-Tein to the cup and tried again. This time, I had a creamy, tasty drink.
I love vanilla - it is one of my favorite flavors. But this flavor is so barely there, that it
takes easily double the amount of powder they list as the mixing amount to get any of it.
Yes, I had more water, but I put two scoops in to start with to compensate.
Really, even two scoops makes this still within reasonable figures on calories, fat and carbs.
Serving size for this product is one level scoop. It claims there are 16 servings in this can.
(Not so sure bout that! They must be going by weight alone, because the product definitely
packs down and settles.)
For the Vanilla Bean flavor:
Calories - 50
Fat - 1 gram
Cholesterol - 20 mg
Sodium - 50 mg
Total Carbohydrate - 9 grams
Dietary fiber - 6 grams
Sugars - 2 grams
Protein - 6 grams
So, I doubled that to make a half-decent 8 oz shake. Even so, the 100 calories
is more than fair, and the net carbs being within reason as well.
Note that I want a protein shake for meal replacement/weight loss, not for post-workout or bulking up.
That means I am watching the protein, carbs, fats and calories. But many people will not find the
6 grams of protein to be satisfying.
Would I buy this product again?
Not unless the price is significantly decreased.
Apparently, part of this item's cost is not in the product itself, but in psuedo-celebrity endorsement fees.
I can get another product that is nutritionally equal to or superior to this item at a much better cost/quantity
value. The taste is comparable, and the protein level higher.
Spare me the familiar face or tv names, and give me a better value on your product if you want me
to be a repeat customer.
