Customer Review: My Integrative PCP Recommended this Brand for Gastritis

Yes, this item is VERY sweet because of the Stevia, but it does not deserve a 1 star rating because of it. You are also supposed to suck on this lozenge and wait 30 minutes before you eat. The stevia taste is not as bad if you don't bite down into it. DGL engages the protective factors in your stomach so you prevent more damage to the lining when you eat. With a high-traffic area, I needed all the help I could get when trying to cure my gastritis. I still have a ways to go and DGL is not the silver-bullet.
Here's some suggestions from my experience:
1 - If you drink alcohol or caffeine, stop. Don't touch them again until you're healed.
2 - If you have stress in your life, make solid measures to relieve it (yoga, breathing, tai chi, meditation, etc).
3 - If you're taking tons of supplements, remove everything you don't need. Supplements upset your stomach and put strain on your liver. You can always go back on them after you've healed.
4 - If you haven't had an endoscopy, schedule one and have them test you for H. Pleyori bacteria. If they prescribe anti-biotics, take them. Then get a holistic nutritionist or ND (naturopathic doctor) to help you re-populate the flora in your GI tract. Don't just take pro-biotics. Most of them don't work and they cost way too much money to throw that money in the toilet. My PCP sent me probiotics that came strapped to an ice-pack. It makes you appreciate how delicate this bacteria is.
5 - If you have food sensitivities, you're not gonna like this, but find them and remove them until you heal (or for good). A lot of people are sensitive of gluten, wheat, yeast, dairy (processed). I've had to cut these things and it's not easy. There are so many foods with these things in them that it's a major lifestyle change away from processed foods.
6 - Use Mastic Gum extract when you wake up (2 pills), in between meals if necessary, and even at night before bed. You can't take too much - my PCP ensured me that it doesn't get absorbed into the blood stream.
7 - Take DGL 30 min before each meal and then at night before bed. It also doesn't get absorbed into the blood stream like other supplements.
8 - Use a stomach aloe formula before you lie down at night. I take 2tbs to coat my stomach.
9 - When your stomach flairs up, make chamomile tea.
10 - Be gentle with yourself. Healing takes time.
DGL also takes time. Use this DGL for a while and you will find it has a long-term benefit. I'm still not fully healed, but much better than 3 months ago when I was waking up with spasms in my chest and shooting pains down both arms and legs.
