I got this to be a q-tip holder, although the box suggests cotton balls. It fits q-tips perfectly and as someone else said, you pick them out by the middle, not the end, so it is more sterile than an upright q-tip dispenser. It looks nice (looks like glass or crystal eventhough it's plastic), is durable, reasonably priced, and works as intended, what more could you as for :-)
