Both the guards were too narrow for my mouth. I am a 5'11', 150 lb. man that wears size medium, so not bigger than average.
One guard was too bulky to be comfortable. Both were too stiff and narrow so it felt like they were pressing in on my teeth like braces might. I stopped wearing it because I was afraid it would move my teeth and I had slight pain in my teeth in the morning.
I got a custom one from a dentist in Tijuana, Mexico for $100. It is excellent. ( My 83 year old mom got $2,500 worth of work done for $650.) Much like the whitening trays I got from my dentist a few years ago. Very thin and flexible. You hardly know you are wearing it.
My bruxism started only two months ago. I am doing research to see about curing this problem as the night guard is only to minimize damage not to cure you.

So I was just looking at my order history, and it turns out I've been using this night guard for 25 months now. It comes with two and I still have the second one saved in a plastic bag for future use. It has definitely seen better days, but it continues to prevent me from grinding my teeth. Sure, some nights if I'm super-restless it'll come out, but in general it does a great job. The one thing I'm curious about is why they made it from two separate pieces of plastic (at least the version I got in 2006). It seems like they're just destined to separate, especially given that the whole purpose is to stop my teeth from grinding each other by taking the bullet itself. So the top layer is pretty much worn away by now, but as I said, the thing still does its job. If I ever need another one, I'm definitely gonna order this one again!Customer Review: Great alternative to expensive nightguards.

This night guard comes with two "boil-and-bite" guards, one being much larger than the other. I found this convenient because, while the smaller one was much more comfortable, I had a tendency to spit it out in the night. I started using the bigger one, which would stay nicely. However, now that I seem to have become accustomed to having a guard in at night time, I can now use the smaller one because I do not spit it out anymore.
Note: For me the night guard was pretty uncomfortable and annoying at first, and my jaw felt tight the next morning. However, I got used to it quickly and in fact the night guard has become quite comfortable and sleeping without it is like sleeping without a pillow. So if this is your first night guard, keep in mind that it will take some getting used to.

I logged on to shop and end up writing a review for a dvd ;-) then I thought I'd write my review for this while I'm at it! This is as good as the "Doctors night guard" for cheaper. If you are a hard core grinder like I'm told I am...I thought of a good trick to make these last longer (I'm lucky if mine lasts 2 months) do NOT boil first! it's not as comfortable but think about it, when you boil you are biting half way through it to form. Without boiling it's twice as thick and should last twice as long right? if someone knows for a FACT this is bad please "comment". I never read comments as I don't care if someone agrees or not (too bitchy?) but will try to remember to check back. Maybe I'll just surf for answer...anyway do buy this much cheaper guard that's actually a two pack!Customer Review: Way better than my last guard!

I first purchased "The Doctor's Night Guard" at my local drugstore, for around $20.00. Not a bad price, but the guard felt like a hockey puck in my mouth, it was so huge and clunky. And I bought the smallest size! Plus it fell out of my mouth every night (and I never knew when) so it didn't seem worth keeping when it didn't even stay put.
I came across this guard and decided to try it because the reviews were so good. I have to say I am extremely pleased with not only the price, but the customer service was good (very good communication and fast shipping) and most importantly, the guard is SMALL but still does the job and stays put all night. My only other option was to drop $500 at my dentist for a custom one, but I think this is a much better deal!
