My dentist wanted me to buy a $350 custom mouth guard from him. Rather than shell out that kind of cash I gave this one a try. I didn't think I would be able to sleep with it, but I haven't had a problem at all. They give you two in the box. I made both. The smaller one felt more comfortable so I've been using that for the past few months. I can feel there are some wear spots, but I haven't grinded through it yet at all. And if/when that happens I plan on trying the 2nd mouth guard which also seemed like it felt okay.
All in all this is a good product and I'm glad I didn't shell out more $$ than necessary.

I bought this for my wife who has severe bruxism at night. Her insurance didn't cover the $400 for a professional guard that the dentist offered, so we looked at some cheaper options. First we tried a moldable mouth guard from the local sports store, but it created abrasions on her gums and was tossed after a few weeks. Next we tried this one -- after a few weeks of use, she has bitten right through it. In addition, the molding didn't go that well; don't bite down as hard as you can when you're doing it. Now that she's under different insurance, I think we're just going to get a professionally made guard this time.Customer Review: Great buy compared to a custom guard

My teeth, my jaw, and my quality of sleep are much better now that I have a cost-effective option to manage my bruxism. I have suffered quite a bit of tooth loss over the years between custom guards. After losing my last 2 custom guards during a household move and on a business trip ($500 and $700 - ouch!), I tried this product in desperation late one grinding night, without even going through the "forming" process. It was a bit loose but worked fine, so I used it the following night and found that within 3 or 4 nights the guard had formed itself comfortably. My dentist recommended a night guard but he recommends lots of expensive stuff so I was in no hurry to spend hundreds of dollars on one from him. I figured, for this price, it wouldn't hurt to try something. Based on the reviews for this product I decided to place an order. It took me two fitting attempts to get it "comfortable". I don't remember the exact instructions but I think two or three attempts might be all you get to get it "right". You have to boil it so I assume it loses some moldability with repeated dips into the hot water. Two guards, of different sizes, come with this kit.

This dental gaurd is the perfect fit. Much much better than the athletic mouth gaurd I was using. When I opened the package & saw the small clear dental gaurd, I thought there was no way that thing is even going to fit in my mouth. After heating & fitting the larger gaurd I thought I would give the smaller one a try as long as I already had the water heated. Well that little one is a perfect fit, I don't even really notice it in my mouth. The biggest problem with my old gaurd was I hardly wore it because it felt like I had a hockey puck in my mouth. This new one I have worn every night, it's perfect.
