Customer Review: Rough shave

I have been shaving with a safety razor for several years, and these have to be the worst blades I have encountered. They feel rough right out of the wrapper. I do get about 5 mediocre shaves with each blade before they get really bad, but I have gone through 8 of the 100, and have yet to get a decent shave.
I have used several brands, such as Feather, Gillette, and Merkur, and I must say that I find Feather to be the sharpest, but about 3 shaves into it, it loses its edge. The other two brands gave me 3 good shaves and two acceptable ones. I will not buy these again. Good price, but not for the lack of quality.

Excellent blades. Compared to those available at Wal-Mart (Personna & lately Wilkensons), there is no contest. Derby Extra is by far the best. Feather may be a sharper blade but it is much more expensive and does not seem to last appreciably longer than the Derbys. You can get a good price on these by buying in bulk (100 or more). If there were a quality problem with these blades, Muhle would not include a complimentary Derby Extra with their exceptionally fine Safety Razors. I haven't found a better razor company and I have been quite satisfied with Derby Extras.Customer Review: These sharp blades reduces razor burn

I have used these blades for over 2 weeks, shaving 5 days per week, and have gone through only 2 blades so far. Compared to the double edged store brand blades made by American Safety Razor Company (ie. Personna) these stay sharp over longer periods and each blade provides a consistently smooth shave.
I have also noticed less razor burn using the Derby blades. I always get skin irritation with the other brand because the blades are so dull, and I try to compensate with more strokes during shaving.

Only giving 4 stars because I have only tried these and have nothing to judge them upon.
Insane value over Fusion/quattro disposables.
I shave against the grain and these have no problem doing it, especially when I can use a new one every two or three shaves if I want.
Packaging is excessive but better than you'd imagine. The boxes have a blade disposal slot, every blade is individually wrapped and placed 5 (maybe 6) to a tiny box. Blades work great, excel in cost per shave and I plan on buying more.

I recently ordered the Derby blades to give them a second chance. I'd tried them once before and wasn't impressed. My second impression is much more favorable. They provide a close, comfortable shave that is very affordable. The Derby brand cream isn't bad either. It lathers well and provides adequate cushion and lubrication during a shave - my only complaint is that I received the Lavender fragrance and it doesn't smell much of Lavender. Overall, if you are looking for an affordable brand of blades to buy give these a chance.
