I'm new to the double edge shaving and got a Merkur razor and Merkur blades. I saw the price and reviews on these blades and figured I'd give them a try. I have yet to nick or get razor burn from these blades and always did on the first and last shave with the Merkur blades. For me these are the perfect blades I get a nice smooth shave and don't have to worry about the nicks and burn. I bought the 100 pack and figuring the next time I have an order for Amazon and need to get over 25 bucks to add another 100 to have on hand!Customer Review: Similar in Quality to Merkur Blades

Derby Extra blades are sharp and each blade lasts approximately a week. These blades are comparable to Merkur blades. They are a little harsher than a good Merkur blade, but as a whole the blades have a more consistent quality than Merkur (where some are bad). The blades are very affordable.
Also, I got the package when Derby International was including a tube of shaving cream and found it to be wonderful, but a little on the dry side. Overall, I have been pleased with the blades and cream. Will buy again.

I've been using double edged safety razors for most of my adult life (over 20 years). I usually get the generic version from my nearby Longs, now CVS pharmacy, but they aren't always in stock and I wanted to stock up to ensure a decent supply.
These do a decent job, but not as nice as the generic CVS brand. I think they are too thin and flexible. Not to mention the fact that they are individually wrapped makes it a pain to load into the razor.
But they are cheap, and now I have a 100 of them.

I mainly switched to DE shaving because of the price difference compared to upkeep for a Mach 3. Heh, well this is a good example. $18 for a year supply compared to $11 for a pack of 5 Mach 3 blades to last roughly a little over a month.. yeah.. The shave these give out is descent; much better though when compared to the Parasienne (or however it is spelled) blades I purchased at Wal-Mart. Oh, and just to put things into perspective, Mach 3 shaves are poor compared to these.Customer Review: Great retro blades!!

After retro shaving daily [ using a double edged adjustable Gillette Razor for about 8 years ] and many different brands of razor blades from Dollar Store brand to Stop and Shop brand,etc. , "Derby Extra " is by far the best deal going at premium blade quality and great economy!
