Customer Reviews of "Derby Extra" Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor BladesCustomer Review: A good blade Summary: 4 StarsI bought the 100 pack Derby Extra's last summer and have had good quality shaves. I still have half of the blades left and only spent ~$20 on the lot. A great way to save a few bucks on a daily ritual.
Customer Review: These sharp blades reduces razor burn Summary: 5 StarsI have used these blades for over 2 weeks, shaving 5 days per week, and have gone through only 2 blades so far. Compared to the double edged store brand blades made by American Safety Razor Company (ie. Personna) these stay sharp over longer periods and each blade provides a consistently smooth shave.
I have also noticed less razor burn using the Derby blades. I always get skin irritation with the other brand because the blades are so dull, and I try to compensate with more strokes during shaving.
Customer Review: Great Shave Summary: 5 StarsI haven't every type of DE blade but after using the derby extras I don't feel I need to keep looking. They're sharp. And thats all we need in a razor. As to the duration of lasting sharpness its not extraordinary but I do tend to get two or three more shaves out of them then some of the other razors. And at 0.15 cent per blade its one of the best deals out there. I wont have to buy another pack of blades for 2+ years!
Customer Review: Dissatisfied Summary: 1 StarsI can't tell if it is the sharpening pitch on these blades or if they are just poorly honed, but in my case they performed poorly. I can only describe them as feeling very rough and irritating. I have been a blade shaver for over 45 years, and from my recent experience I believe that it is getting almost impossible to find quality blades anymore. I've read several forums that advocate a perfection of shaving "technique", and steaming the beard for several minutes under a hot towel followed by the application of some exotic soap with a badger or sable brush followed by balms etc. etc. This isn't rocket science folks, and it needn't be as ritualistic as a japanese tea ceremony. It's just shaving for pete's sake, and if you've got a poor blade nothing will compensate for that.
Customer Review: a decent value Summary: 4 StarsI was apprehensive when I opened this order. The listing says they are Swedish steel blades. That creates the impression that they are imported from Sweden. They are actually made in Turkey.
With that being said, I tried them and found that they are adequate for my needs. These blades are not quite as sharp as most American blades. I like that because new American blades can really slice a guy up.
For the price these are an excellent value. My one quibble; the listing is misleading. It should say Swedish steel but made in Turkey. Then it won't be a surprise.
