Customer Review: Products work well, but can't get over the smell!!

I bought this trial kit after reading the book "Curly Girl" and hearing a recommendation from a friend. I have wavy hair that can curl up pretty well with the right amount of product, scrunching and diffusing. So I thought I would give the trial size a go.
But I have to agree with an earlier review - these products smell terrible! I wonder if I had a bad batch??
The NoPoo scent is ok and seems to dissipate after awhile. However, the Conditioner has a cloying strong odor that does not go away. :(
It's really a shame because I liked how they worked. The gel, in particular, is great, and I may purchase a regular size of that. The Set it Free spray smells ok, too and adds a nice 'shine' to my hair.

The DevaCurl travel kit is great. You get to try 4 products with relatively little investment (versus the cost of the full-sized products), and you then have handy travel sized bottles for air travel. I liked the kit so much I bought one for a friend who was resistant to trying new hair products. She loved the kit as well! My favorites are the gel and spray, and I actually love my own sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, but the ones in the kit are good, too...I just won't be buying the full-sized versions of the products. The purchase of this travel kit was worth it to me as I fell in love with the gel and spray - really works wonders for my hair and I've been getting tons of compliments!Customer Review: A good try-it kit

If you are interested in finding the best products for your curly hair, give this set a try. The DVD was informative, however, according to it, my hair type (fine, very wavy) requires "low-poo," not the no-poo shampoo contained in this kit. Wish this information was as clearly provided elsewhere! I prefer Kiss My Face Whenever shampoo, which is also SLS-free.
My favorite products are the "let it free" curl enhancing spray, which I would definitely purchase again; and oddly, the brown clips, which I at first thought were a throw-away item, but turned out to be the best! I can't find similar clips anywhere, so I will order those again separately.

I ordered this along with the Curly Girl book when I first accidentally discovered the Curly Girl world right here at Amazon. I travel and so appreciate the convenience of this kit. However, I found that I did not like the spritz stuff, Set it Free; it made my hair sticky. I'm okay with the other products, although I wish One Condition didn't have so much fragrance. My hubby complained about it the first time I used it, but once it dried it didn't bother him. I will refill the little bottles once they're empty and keep using this handy kit. I'll try using less of the spritz next time to see if that solves the stickiness problem.Customer Review: Healthy curls are back!

I tried to travel kit to see if I would like this brand before I purchased the full sizes. I like the No Poo Shampoo, but I want to try their Low Poo. I love the One Condition. It's moisturizing without weighing my hair down. The Angel works nicely- I used to have to use a defrizzer with a styling gel, but I don't have to with this. The Set It Free is nice too- I spray a little on wet hair and spray more when my hair is dry. I want to try their other products now after using this kit. Without these products my hair can get flat and only slightly wavy, but when I use the Deva Curl products I get more definition and more curl!
