Customer Reviews of Don't Bite Me Patch (20/box)Customer Review: Worked for kids, not for me, got more pimples! Summary: 3 Stars
I am the type of person that mosquitoes just love to bite, just walking to my car I get mosquito bites. I researched different products for anti mosquitoes. Found this one interesting enough that I bought 2 boxes of 25 patches. We went camping last weekend and just wanted to be ready. It says on the box that you might need more than 1 patch if there are more mosquitoes, so I placed 2 patches. Well I still got mosquito bites and the next day I got several pimples too. Vitamin B1 or Thiamine, I guess can give you pimples if you get a higher dose, and guess what the main ingredient is on this patch, yup, Thiamine. I actully used 3 patches and still got several mosquito bites. I placed one on my nephew and it worked ok on him, it did made him smell like "vitamins" but not that bad. Thats why I am giving it 3 stars because it worked on my nephew.
Customer Review: Good results Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter has very strong reactions to mosquito bites and she seems to atract them. At one point, she was so covered with bites we considered not letting her go outside, until we tried these patches. We have now been through a box of twenty and we are very pleased with the results. She has only been bitten twice.
My family went camping for a long weekend. My daughter (22 mos), son (3 yrs) and myself each wore a patch, my husband did not. He came home with 15 to 20 bites and we didn't get any. He was our control subject that weekend.
I have been putting a patch on my daughter in the morning and take it off the next evening in the bath. The adhesive is very strong so it does hurt her when I remove the patch. It seems to make it a little better when I remove the patch in the tub.
Customer Review: Great alternative to sprays Summary: 5 Stars
The Don't Bug Me Patch works as advertised, for the most part. It keeps bugs away as effectively as sprays and lasts for a long time. I have yet to use it in the deep woods, but it is fine just about everywhere else.
The patch is tricky to apply as it is thin and sometimes gets stuck to itself. There is an odor, so I don't recommend it if you're trying to impress someone! Also, exercise caution taking it off. I tried to rip it off like a band-aid only to leave a couple of irritaed areas on my arm that required a band-aid.
All in all, it's a good product (albeit a bit expensive) that I plan to keep using. The number of mosquito and gnat bites I have is way down this summer!
Customer Review: Don't Bug Me Patch - didn't work for me Summary: 1 Stars
I used the product per the instructions provided, which included using two patches if I was over 200 lbs. I did this two hours prior to arriving at Boy Scout camp with my son, and changed the patches every 36 hours, per the instructions. Within the first 48 hours, it was like I had nothing on to guard against Mosquitoes (or in my case, just like if I used the 25% DEET products, which are also not effective for me). I also saw no relief from the gnats at camp who were swarming around all our heads. I was bitten by mosquitoes from head to toe. This product MAY work for you, but I can say that it does not work for everyone (though I really wish it did!)
Customer Review: still open to judgment Summary: 4 Stars
i have been very attractive to ticks for almost 40 years so that when i go out into the damp morning grass in N Cal my clothes are covered with ticks. I have had over 100 tick bites. I use deet heavily and 2 years ago started using the Don't Bite Me Patch also. No bites so far with the patch on, which I see as a REAL WIN!
The patch is a little fragile to apply; recommend putting it on your torso (shoulders to hips, front, back, or side). I am not terribly attractive to mosquitoes, etc (especially with all the deet on) so i can't comment on whether they have been affected.
It is B1. Apparently masks my human odors but yes, I can smell it.
