Customer Reviews of Dr. Melina Protein Bar, Lemon Raspberry, 1.58-Ounce Bars (Pack of 15)Customer Review: CONFESSION OF AN UNREPENTANT CHOCOHOLIC Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Dr, Melina Jampolis, FIT TV diet doctor, seems to offer everything a person needs to slim down - lectures; a book, "The No Time to Lose Diet," a blog, vitamin/mineral capsules, and, yes, protein bars.
The latter come in three tempting flavors - Chocolate Peanut, Cinnamon Almond, and Lemon Raspberry (my choice).
First off, you know what they say confession is good for, so it's confession time for me: I'm a confirmed, unrepentant, happy to be one, day in day out chocoholic. I don't mean just any chocolate, mind you, but the deep, dark chocolate. So, initially the thought of a protein bar held little appeal for me. Surprise!
Dr. Melina's Lemon Raspberry Protein Bar is tasty and refreshing, due to the zippy lemony flavor. It's quite satisfying and has a nice combination of protein and fiber. Besides, it makes an out-and-out chocoholic feel virtuous.
I'll be tucking them into my carry-on for an upcoming trip, and keep several on hand at home.

I've never been a person to spend $1+/bar on what seems to be a such a simple snack with these energy bars. I'm definitely not an energy bar guru or regular purchaser. I see loads of them when visiting Costco or Trader Joe's, but never think much of them.
I use these rather as a snack than as a meal replacement. With 5g fat (2g saturated) and 180 calories, they're a bit rich for a snack. Additionally, they've got some artificial junk inside (sugar alcohols) so they're not necessarily health food.
In terms of flavor, as others have said, yep, they're lemony. You can taste a bit of the raspberry, but the lemon is definitely dominant. Texture is a bit like a Rice Crispy treat.
Would I buy these again after experimenting? Probably not. I'd rather stick with cereal bars for about 1/3 the price that seem to fill me up just as much. I don't see how these could ever act as a meal replacement. To be honest, I haven't tried many other brands, so this review isn't meant to be a comparison with other energy bars.
Customer Review: Another fine protein bar hits the market, if the price is right Summary: 3 Stars

My family has just discovered the new genre of nutrition bars, which seem targeted to those who want a quick meal that provides enough of life's essential nutrients -- protein and fiber -- while minimizing out the bad ones -- calories from fats and sugars.
Dr. Melina's newest offering provides an adequate addition to this market slice. I've tried Kashi bars before, and they taste more like the standard granola bar -- chewy and drizzled with sweetness throughout. Dr. Melina's bar, on the other hand, is a bit of a dualistic experience, with a somewhat bland taste masked by a sweet, flavorful topping. The lemon-raspberry combination was a bit of a shock at first, but after a couple of bites was pleasant enough.
From a nutritional standpoint, Dr. Melina can go head to head with Kashi, with the nutritional points being close to identical. But it comes down to price. If both products were identically priced, I'd probably lean toward the Kashi bar. But if Dr. M punched less of a hole in my wallet, I'd go with her.

As someone who over the last few years has lost a bit of weight and is trying to keep it off AND eat healthier, I'm always on the look-out for things that satisfy my sweet tooth but are nutritious as well as being tasty. For me, this bar fits the bill. I liked the combination of sweet from the dried rasberries and lightly tangy from the lemon frosting on the one side of the bar. This bar is nice and soft, so not like a granola bar-if you prefer crunchy, this bar would not be for you. I love the fact that the bar has no high fructose corn syrup and helps me meet my calcium requirement (the bar supplies 20% of your calcium, which is especially important for women). The bar also has 5 grams of fiber and 14 grams of protein. I would definitely grab this as a healthier snack option or a light breakfast on the go. Did I mention it was created by a nutrition doctor? All the better!
I would definitely buy this product again and would be interested in trying other bars that are available.

I'm not really a protein bar guru, or even that healthy an eater. But that's why I really like this snack. In the morning I sometimes skip breakfast because there are not many things you can grab and eat fast and still think they taste good. So I didn't really expect much from this bar. And guess what, I was pleasantly surprised.
The bar is sweet but not too sweet. The lemon flavor is a little light, but the rasberry is right on. It's got an awesome amount of protein too, which got my brother excited as he works out regularly. So it works for more than one person.
PROS: Light flavor. Good protein, good fiber. Light on the stomach as well. Verstile for either a healthy eater, a person who is really into physical exercise, or a person working on a diet.
CONS: Lemon + Rasberry = not tart enough as it should be. Might be too sweet for some.
BOTTOM LINE: This bar is low calorie, high in protien, high in fiber, and tasty. What's not love?
