Customer Reviews of Dr. Scholl's DR6624 Toe-Touch Foot Spa with Bubbles and MassageCustomer Review: Save your money worthless, will not cover foot Summary: 1 Stars
Where do I start? There are 3 operation positions, 'Vibrating Massage with Smart Heat and Bubbles', 'Vibrating Massage with Smart Heat' and 'OFF'. OFF is the best position for this thing.
I have a small foot for a man size 9 and the water does NOT come close to covering the foot even 'without' any of the silly rollers snapped in. The snap in rollers are not motorized and are just nobby bumps that you roll your arch against BUT if you use the rollers it holds the foot almost out of the water and if you don't use the roller your foot blocks the few openings for air bubbles are blocked. Water depth is LESS than a 'inch and a half' at the arch with the foot blocking the bubble holes!!
So, forget about the 'smart heat' thing, you have to use warm water to start with (which is no big deal) because it's less than 3 quarts to fill the tub for both feet. Your toe tips may be all that is underwater and if you want the bubbles you must raise the foot to NOT block the openings for the bubbles that ONLY run down the middle of the foot.
There is no churning and water agitation, just a little vibration and some bubbles but lots of noise. There is a warning to never run the unit over 20 min with 10 min being typical. The so called 'Smart Heat' is worthless and I immediately noticed a drop in temperature (I was using Smart Heat with bubbles and vibration.
The water fill line is a white raised line on a white background and is easier to find by feeling because I couldn't see it. Not a big deal once you learn but does indicate a thoughtless design.
The damning thing is, it DOESN'T even cover your foot, drops in temperature and any 'massage' effect is in my opinion a plectra effect. This is beyond worthless and I expected much better from the company who NOW is selling an update version that looks like it still may have the depth and bubble placement problem but I will NOT purchase the new unit.
Some may say what do you expect at the price? I expect something that at least resembles a foot spa as the name suggests.
I sawed off the power cord and it's now in the trash. You are better off using a deep container and filling it with warm water and forget all this 'puffery'...
Typically I'm very forgiving in my reports but NOT this one. Yes, I'm angry.
Customer Review: For this price? Better than the competition. Summary: 4 Stars
For $25 vs the $99 Brookstone spa model on here that got a decent review, I decided to save $74. What turned me off on the $99 model by Brookstone CANNOT use bath salts or bath bomb bits or whatever - this model can. Its relatively simple in its design, and if you enjoy adding additives to your water to make your foot spa more enjoyable like myself, you might want to consider this.
So far, I think this did its job. One, it does keep the hot water warm for a pretty long time, about 25 minutes or so. Its vibrate feature is gentle so its not a "deep massage" but I found that my feet DID feel better afterwards, it could be a little bit better, I would give that a B+.
I have flat feet so this model was deep enough to cover my feet completely so I was pleased with that.
The yellow button is a little wonky for working with your toes unless you are more dexterous than me, but I used my heel to turn it on and off with ease.
The bubbles are pleasant and don't cause splashing, I tried this on a hardwood floor and now feel safe about using this on carpet.
As for the bubbles feature being noisy, it isn't anywhere near as noisy as a vacuum, its a definite hum but I have heard fans on laptops noisier than this. It isn't so loud you cannot enjoy music over it! So that didn't bother me at all either.
I am giving it four stars minus one star because I had to return the model I got due to the right foot not bubbling. Beyond that, I am happy with my purchase enough to return it and try again with the same model, which I think counts for something.
Customer Review: GREAT PRODUCT for the price! but bubbles stopped on one side... Summary: 3 Stars
The footbath is great: you have to put warm water in it, but once you do, it stays warm for quite a while (say, about 20-25 minutes). I bought this for my girlfriend, and she uses it pretty often. When I initially tested it out before giving it to her (oops!), the bubbles under both feet worked, but later the right side decided to quit working.
From my own testing, this footbath is quite refreshing. After walking around all day in shoes, this perfectly-sized bath is just what my feet need to feel really revitalized. The vibrate function (first setting) is usually enough to help; it's a gentle vibration that really reaches under your skin. The bubbles (second setting) are OK, too, and make your feet feel more alive-- however, the water cools down faster with the bubbles, so I wouldn't run that setting too long.
Overall, a great product, ESPECIALLY for the price. The unit is not too physically big, and with water in it is not too heavy to carry around. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a good footbath. If your bubbles don't work, I'm sure you can send it back for a replacement, as I think other customers here have mentioned.
Customer Review: Two Thumbs Down Summary: 1 Stars
Because of the great reviews here, I ordered this on Wal-Mart.com, thinking I had researched enough and had the best one. Not! My old one died, after some 20+ years, its name had fallen of years ago, but it was a tank! And so I'm comparing this one with it. I may never find another. First off, no heating. None. Second, when it's filled w/ water, you have to carry it with both hands, trying hard not to slosh the water all over everything. The old one, I just grabbed it with one hand, and the water went to the front of the tank. I could forgive all this if it had a decent massage action, but that's so faint it's not even worth mentioning. The bubbling is sort of cute but not relaxing, and it actually splashes out of the tub. The toe-touch control is so stiff I can't operate it with my foot. The removable massage gadgets are uncomfortable, all of them, so I removed them; the floor doesn't fit the form of my foot. Any positives? It's light weight. Wal-Mart will be getting it back, and my search goes on.
Customer Review: Works as a foot bath, however Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this item because I am seeking a method to soak my feet due to athletes foot and toenail fungus. So for that purpose, I'm satisfied.
This product could be improved by the following recommendations:
1. The vibrate mode is a little too noisy for my liking. And once the air(spa) mode is engaged, the noise volume is even higher. Definitely interferes with trying to soak and watch TV at the same time!
2. I wish the manufacturer would have focused more on the heating aspect of the device. It claims to keep warm water warm for a longer period of time. I suppose this is true, but barely noticeable, if at all. I wish they would have installed a full fledged temperature controlled heating device. I could do without the vibrate and the bubbles :0).
Given the relatively inexpensive price, I think it's still worth it, but you should know about the noise before you buy it.
