I purchased this sleep mask because I have realized I prefer it very dark in order to sleep, but practicality necessitates I leave on a nightlight for those middle of the night bathroom trips. This mask does an excellent job of what it is supposed to do in terms of blocking out light. It is quite comfortable, though I do find the band slipping when I wake up after some tossing and turning. Since this is my first official sleep mask, I can't testify as to how it compares in that area with other masks. I do find the slippage a bit annoying, but the pros of the blackout outweigh it. There was an odd fragrance upon initially taking it out of the package. One reviewer said it smelled like mint, but to me it was more like rosemary or thyme. It didn't bother me, aside from the fact that my dog kept wanting to lick my face when I first wore the mask! The smell dissipates after a couple of days. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a sleep mask for a good value.Customer Review: Scented

This is my second time purchasing this product. The first time, I purchased this product in a store several years ago. I have used it a lot. The only reason I had to buy another mask is because my husband had overstretched the previous one's elastic ties while playing with it with our kids. I love the feel of the mask (it is very soft and gentle on the face and eyes). It is also VERY good at keeping out light (much better than another brand of mask I have tried).
I was surprised that the mask I purchased off Amazon was scented. It is a relaxing smell, however I am hesitant to use for fear it will hurt my sinuses. I may try hand washing the mask to see if it erases the scent. I am hopeful that it will, since I love the mask I am replacing this one with. The only difference between the two being the new one's scent.

Let me start off by saying I am a shift worker. I've been one for almost 14 yrs. In that time I have used sleep masks on and off throughout those years in all different sizes and shapes. This one is no different. It does the job very well. I am a heavy sleeper but I like total darkness to fall asleep and stay asleep. That is exactly what this mask does. The problem I have in particular with this mask is that I don't like to feel that I have one on. With this mask I definitly feel it. It is very nice to the touch, silky even, but a little too bulky for my taste. I have woken up with my nose and ears a little sore. It might have something to do with my features. I have a small head, big nose, and ears. So it didn't work out too well for me, but it is still a nice mask. Just make sure it works for your particular features.Customer Review: Extremely Comfy!

I love it that there's a heavier pockets or cushion, however you call it, that gently presses into the eye area when you wear this eye mask. It helps me to keep my eyes firmly shut and push me into dreamland. I love that.
It's really comfortable. The softness it perfect. The string doesn't affect anything even if you sleep on your side (which I do).
The only problem is that when I first opened the product from its plastic packaging, there's a STRONG and unpleasant plastic/industrial smell. I recommend that you air it for a couple of days before you wear it. Otherwise your nose would be taking in that smell and it's neither pleasant nor healthy.
All in all, good value, wonderfully made, and excellent customer service when you contact the seller!! Highly recommended.

My reservation about giving this product rave reviews is the odor....I find it smells awful and the odor is right there in my face as I'm trying to fall asleep. This is really the only thing wrong because the price is great, the fabric is soft, it fits my face, the strap is adjustable and I eventually do fall asleep and stay asleep. I tried airing the sleep mask outdoors for a few hours in the sun but it still smelled. Maybe i need to do this again or put a few drops of essential oil on it to mask the odor... It's only been a few days that I'm using it. Maybe the odor will fade or I'll just get used to it. I bought it based on the reviews here and now that I'm using it, I wondered why everyone didn't notice the funky odor!
