Customer Review: Parents of eczema babies beware

As another reviewer noted, this detergent has also aggravated my daughter's eczema. During her first couple months, she suffered increasingly severe eczema all over her body except for her face and her bottom. We originally thought that it was the dry heat during winter months. It was not until her pediatrician pointed out that it was only happening on areas in contact with clothing that we realized it may be the laundry detergent.
Many baby books basically say "if it smells good, don't use it" because it contains perfume, and this detergent definitely smells too good for it not to have it (the odor is mild, but you can tell). After this, I also re-read the labels on the bottle and visit the website, and nowhere do they say the product is perfume free. My daughter's eczema improved dramatically in a week after we switched over to seventh generation free and clear and rewashed everything that came in contact with her.
Another thing to note is this detergent does not seem to clean very well. I always pre-soak and hand wash the clothes right away if there is a diaper accident. Even then, if I don't scrub till all the stains are gone, the clothes usually come out of the washer with still some yellow on it. I used to think it might be because the detergent is very mild, or because I have an older, top-loading washer. But after I switched over to seventh generation, I am quite sure that it was the detergent - now I don't even have to pre-treat the clothes if I am going to wash it within a couple hours, before the stain dries out. The clothes always come out clean, and it saves me a lot of work.
There are better and cheaper options out there. Definitely check them out before buying this.
