Customer Reviews of Dryer BallsCustomer Review: Worked well until they fell apart Summary: 2 Stars
These were recommended to me by my boyfriend's mother. I don't use dryer sheets anyway due to his allergies and the fact that I don't like adding chemicals needlessly. So, the softer sheets are just a plus for us. If I forget to get the clothes out of the dryer quickly, we just steam the wrinkles out with our Scunci Steamer (which I love) for a good, chemical-free way to approach laundry.
My towels and sheets are fluffier with these balls. I didn't notice a change in drying time. What I like is the fact that they are more effective at removing pet hair from fleece, which is a constant battle in my house with 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Unfortunately, one of the balls just split in half after about a week of multiple daily loads. I returned them to Bed Bath & Beyond (they're pretty good about returns/exchanges within 30 days of purchase with receipt). Based on my experience with the fluffy sheets, I was willing to give them another shot. I bought several packages (I was really hoping these would work due to the pet hair issue), but, alas, all of them fell apart - split completely in half after a 1-2 uses. These were a complete waste of money.
Customer Review: Seller sends out a different product!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
The Mystic Wonders dryer ball has a lifetime guarantee and is YELLOW as you see in the picture. This seller (Gamma Discount) has sent me the "As Seen on TV" blue dryer ball which you find at Bed Bath & Beyond and which I already owned. This cheaper version of dryer ball started cracking and breaking after a few months of use.
Mystic Wonders sells their quality dryer balls for $20. I was wondering how another vendor could sell it for so much cheaper than the manufacturer and now I know -- THEY DON'T -- they are lying about what they sell!! I am pissed because now I have to return 3 sets of these and they don't pay return shipping!! From other seller feedbacks I can see I'm not the only one and I am in the process of reporting it to Amazon...
UPDATE 5/19/10: By the way, we have found that these washing machine balls can really put clothes through a pounding with front loader washer. I notice it more with baby clothes, and also colors tend to bleed more with the ball pounding the clothes. We are getting a super energy- and water-efficient LG steam washer, but that is an expensive route to go!
Customer Review: You've Got to Try them to Believe it! Summary: 5 Stars
I originally ordered these from a [...] because I was looking for natural/organic alternatives for household products.
These things are fabulous! They cut my dryer time by 25-50% and now I don't use dryer sheets or fabric softner on any of my natural fabrics. I had tried not using fabric softner on my kitchen towels before I got the dryer balls but found that they didn't dry very well and weren't very soft. But with the dryer balls everything is soft and dries great!
Now I just seperate my synthetic fabric clothes into their own load and dry them with just a 1/2 a dryer sheet to prevent static cling and none of my other loads (about 6 of them) require any softner at all.
I liked them so much I bought nine other sets and gave them out as Christmas presents. I plan to buy and give out more this year as well.
I've been using them for more than a year now and don't know why I didn't try them sooner.
You've got to try them to believe them!
Customer Review: Dryer balls-they work for me! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a nice electric Maytag washer and dryer. The dryer has a moisture sensor that automatically stops it when the clothes are dry. I have noticed that sometimes when it stops, some items are not completely dry. Items such as flannel lined jeans or sheets can get rolled up and not dry completely inside, while the outer part is dry enough for the dryer sensor to stop the machine.
I noticed that the dryer now stops sooner than it did without the balls and the clothes come out completely dry. I noticed that the clothes seem to be more fluffed up. It makes sense to me that the spiked balls would have the effect of causing better air circulation, less rolling up of clothing, and softening due to the beating action they provide. I think they work very well. As a side benefit, by stopping the dryer sooner, the dryer balls are lowering the cost of electricity with every load of clothes dried.
Customer Review: i love my dryer balls Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't believe dryer balls would work but tried them because of a worsening allergy to the chemicals in the fabric softener sheets. They worked wonderfully well for me. My towels come out soft and fluffy. My permanent press comes out the same as with dryer sheets. I do still have some static cling in certain materials but it is only occasional. I no longer have the rash and constant itch from the chemicals that were in the fabric softener sheets. My dryer does run slightly quicker on the moisture sensing cycle. Also, there is no longer a chemical buildup on the lint screen of my dryer which allows it to 'breathe' a lot easier (fabric sheet buildup is not visible but it prevents airflow and makes the dryer much less efficient).
