Customer Reviews of Drymistat Humidifier Tube

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm relatively new to cigars, I've been an on and off smoker for several years but I just recently got serious with it (my dad's been smoking cuban for 40 years so I've been around cigars all of my life).

I was surprised at how incredibly easy it is to maintain 70% RH with these things. I popped them into my humidor and I've been at 70.5% for the last week or so.

A couple of things are confusing.

First of all I read a lot of reviews saying people had to remove crystals when they got them cause they swelled when they filled them, etc. etc.

These come pre-filled, they should state so on the packet but they are ready to go as soon as you get them, no need to add water (generally speaking).

You have to have a properly seasoned humidor to make these work out of the box, that's a big deal. You also need a relatively accurate hygrometer, there are several here on Amazon (look for Caliber III +-1%RH; about $20).

Finally, they are a lot bigger than they look, think like 2 large test tubes put together. From the pics I thought they were a lot smaller.

Anyway, they are a great all round product and a great all round seller.

Best.

Customer Review: Could It Be Easier?
Summary: 5 Stars

You can spend a lifetime trying to get those cigars to 70% humidity with all kinds of humidifiers and sensors, or you could just buy one or two of these things and never worry about it again.

The drymistat humiditube couldn't be easier to use. You buy these by the single tube. Inside the clear plastic cigar sized tube, is the clear water absorbing gel - the same thing used in diapers and the magic soil additive so you don't have to water plants so often stuff. There's absolutely no instructions, you peel off the shrink wrapped top, pop the solid lid off, add water up to the top line, pop on the cap with the little holes, and into your humidor or plastic bag goes the tube. And voila, 70% humidity where ever you've stuck this thing.

It's hard to imagine how anything could be more simple than these tubes. No need to muck around with those humidifier discs, wondering if they have water in them or not. Look at the clear tube, when the gel shrinks below the bottom blue line, time to add water.

One tube is really enough to support a small humidor.

Customer Review: Just not sure...
Summary: 3 Stars

I was fired up when I received these (purchased 2 for a well seasoned 50ct humidor)given the glowing reviews that I'd read, but when I opened them and attempted to fill with distilled water, it only took about 3 drops before the water started to spill over the top of the tube. DO you need to fill them when you open them, or are they already at the correct level when you receive them? I've looked all over but couldn't find anything definitive to tell me either way. The reviews all seemed to indicate fill before putting in the humidor. I ended up dumping about a third of the crystals inside so I could get water in the tube. Now, I still only get about 65% humidity. If I'm doing something wrong, I'd love to hear what it is.

Customer Review: Perfect humidity, easily accomplished.
Summary: 5 Stars

Great product. I've had four in my 100 cigar humidor for a few years now. I keep one in my portable humidor, and have one in a zip lock bag for those times when I end up with more cigars than my humidor holds. I have never had a dry or moldy cigar using this product.

The rule of thumb for one tube per 25 cigars seems like a good one.

I agree with another reviewer that on various vendor's websites, it looks like the purchase price is for a box of tubes instead of a single tube.

For the guy who said they simply didn't work, that seems strange to me, since my experience is they are very effective and simple to use.

Customer Review: Keeps your stogies comfy
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased the Drymistat about 2 years ago and I'm very pleased with it. It's very easy to use and a must have for anyone who keeps more than 25 cigars, especially if your climate is dry. Here are a few tips for those who own a humidor with draws or trays: let the stock humidifier take care of the top drawer or tray and put a drymistat stick in each level. I have a 100ct humidor w/drawers and keep about 80-85 stogies. I keep my premos in the bottom drawer with 2 drymistats and they are aging very well at 64-68% relative humidity. Also, make sure to refill with distilled water. Tap water will leave a brown residue on the beads after a period of time.
