I really like this soap, but I rated it only 4 stars because it makes my face burn a little when I use it. Because of this, the apples of my cheeks have turned a little raw with use. I used it for 2 days without any problems (in fact, I noticed that my blemishes are clearing up), but when I had to wash my face 2 times in a time frame of about 4 hours, this caused my skin to become extremely sensitive and red.
I use this soap before I apply raw, unrefined shea butter to my face. Although I have only been using the two products for two days, my face has become softer, more moisturized and my blemishes are healing. For the most part, I love this soap. But my cheeks are pretty raw right now (and I have never considered myself to have sensitive skin) so I think I will not use it for a day or two until the rawness goes away. I have ordered a pound of african black soap from Ghana which does not contain lemon juice and I hope that it will be more soothing for my sensitive face.
Customer Review: Buyer Beware. May Cause Extreme Irritation and Redness

After reading all the great reviews about this soap I decided to give this a try. After about 3 days of using this soap I noticed something very frightening. After using the soap all over my body I had an extreme burning feeling on my face and arms... during about the second day of using the soap my face and arms started to get extremely red and irritated. Then on the third day the redness and irritation got so bad that I had to go see a doctor and I was prescribed some ointment.
My best advice is to buy just ONE bar of soap and test it out. If you have sensitive skin stay clear of this stuff because it will seriously damage your skin. And also beware of all the positive reviews... sometimes I wonder if they are truly genuine.
The organic products sometimes do more harm than good... If anyone would like the rest of my unopened soap... let me know and I will gladly send it to you for free.

I do not like this soap. It's my own fault for straying from nasabb, but the amazon reviews make it sound like this Dudu-Osun is pretty much the same thing. It is not. What, did they add black dye to the soap?
Cons: Peculiar "sweet" smell (although that might be a pro for some)
The dye. I do not want brown water streaming down my arms. That is SO unnecessary, and seems an affected authenticity--like, "It's called black soap, so make sure it looks black and turns water brown!"
Pros: I'm sure there are some, but I was so put off by the dye that I don't use the soap.
I might liquefy the bar I've already used, put it in a pump and use it as a liquid soap. Meanwhile, it seems a shame to throw the rest away, so if anyone would like five unopened bars of this stuff, just let me know. I will gladly send them to you, no charge. I want rid of it.

I love this soap! I was pleasantly surprised by the tropical smell. I would have given 5 stars except I thought that the black soap w/aloe and shea butter worked a little better for my skin. It leaves my skin feeling clean not filmy like the regular soaps. I do not recommend using it without a washcloth though. It is a raw soap and there are pieces in the soap that can scratch your skin if you rub it directly onto yourself. I did find that it produces a light brown rinse but it did not stain my shower at all. I ordered the "natural shea butter" at the same time. I have been using the shea butter as a moisturizer(even on my face)after bath time. I have already reviewed the shea butter. Both products together have been a lifesaver! My daughter has severly dry skin and she is softer than ever! I have even given two bars away as gifts! What a amazing soap!Customer Review: Wonderful, Refreshing, Excellent, Must Try!!!!!!

I must say, I was at the beginning skeptical of trying this soap. I went to the beauty supply and right before my eyes, I saw Dudu Osun!!!! I decided to try it out because of the great reviews. I spent $4.99(1 bar), and can say honestly that every penny was worth wild. This makes my skin feel soooo refreshed,soft and clean. Dudu Osun has an earthy smell, and is pleasant to my sences!!!!!! My skin is brighter, cleaner, and my dark spots has lightened after 2 uses. I will most definitely purchase more of this soap and will use it as a bath soap as well. Just wanted to add that I also purchased, 100% pure Shea butter(Ghana), and I love this as a moisturizer after using Dudu Osun, and these two are a great combination together. My skin looks FLAWLESS!!!!!!
