Used the arm protector for the 4 weeks that my son (2.5 years old) needed to be in his full-arm cast. Overall, we liked it. It was a bit long for him, but it didn't hamper its function. On a couple of occasions a little water may have seeped into the protector, but not enough to dampen or damage the cast. If my son tugged at it or if he leaned up against the side of the tub, I can see how water may enter the protector. Initially, the protector was challenging to put on and you could tell that it was on tight, though my son was never overly in discomfort. After the first week, it loosened up enough that putting it on and taking it off was easy without compromising the seal. I cannot comment about how it would function for longer than 4 weeks. It worked equally well while he showered or bathed in the tub. It definitely wouldn't work so great for swimming or being submerged.
