I really haven't looked that hard in the nearby stores you might think of, but couldn't find back scratchers at the places I did. One place told me they get stuff like that for the holidays for gifts. Soooo, I hunted amazon.com and decided to take a chance. People I've talked with think that bamboo IS the way to go, which these are. Sure, there are a couple of splinters but no bit deal. Also, my hubbie put a 1/4" bit on his drill press and made a hole on each of them to hang them up; I'm going to put a thin rope on mine.
I'm thinking that stores really need to carry this; it's so hard to find decent personal care items. Speaking of which, check out my other review I'm about to post about another item, somewhat related. I'm so glad I finally bought these scratchers. good job amazon!
