I bought a box of these at a local store to see if I would like them before having to buy 5 boxes from Amazon. We have really hard water and the only dishwasher soap that I found that worked, cleaned the dishes, and didn't leave a film was the Electrasol tablet. Then I tried the Ecover tablets and they work great. I scrape off big pieces of extra food but don't pre-rinse and they still work great. I don't usually run the dishwasher everyday (we're a family of 3 so don't often make a full load every day) and they still work great on dishes that have been sitting. I have a basic, no-frills Kenmore dishwasher that is about 5-6 years old. I turn it off after the last rinse and prop the door open to let the dishes dry. They come out beautifully. I need to say, though, that I hardly use any plastic (and try to hand wash it instead of putting it in the dishwasher) so I can't say how it would work on loads of plastic.Customer Review: We gave this product a challenge .......

We had been life long fans of Cascade but wanted to switch over to something more eco-friendly. A couple of years ago we tried 7th generation dishwasher liquid and it always left a residue on the glasses and didn't get the dishes clean. Often times we would have to wash by hand then we decided to give ECOVER tabs a try because of the great reviews here.
Well, we had a BBQ and the dishes were covered in sticky BBQ sauce and butter from the corn on the cob. We loaded all of these dirty dishes along with wine glasses and was about to give these tabs a run for their money.
We could not believe our eyes!!! There was NOTHING on the dishes and I do mean nothing! Everything was squeaky clean and sparkling! I thought I had a new dishwasher or something. This product is fantastic and I will never use anything else.
Give it a try. I'm sure you'll be just as impressed as we are!!!

I began searching for an environmentally friendly dishwasher detergent a couple months ago. I tried Seventh Generation powder & it failed. I also tried and have been using Bi-o-kleen, until now. Bi-o-kleen worked great except for leaving residue on a couple peices of plastic. One plastic cup has stayed in the dishwasher since using bi-o-kleen (about 1 month) because it left a powdery residue on the bottom that wouldn't come off. I placed in front & back of top rack, front & back of bottom rack and it always left the powdery residue). After 1 use with Ecover tablets, the cup sparkled and has no residue anywhere. Ecover has a light fragrant scent, not chemical, and leaves the kitchen smelling great. I will use this from now on. I hope Amazon continues to keep in stock. At this great price, I'm stocking my cleaning closet! You will not be dissappointed with this!Customer Review: Surprised at how well these work

I try to use Earth friendly products as much as possible. But I also want my dishes clean. That's why I have a dishwasher--I don't want to rewash them after they've been in there! I didn't have high expectations for these, but to my amazement, they clean better than any commercial brand I've used (Electrasol, Cascade among them.) I even tried to put Ecover to the test by putting a casserole dish in. It had massive baked-on food residue, but I did No pre-rinsing, and I left it in the dishwasher for several hours before I turned it on. It came out spotless!
My dishwasher is 10 years old, so I am really impressed with Ecover! The only thing I don't like is each tablet is wrapped separately. I know they do that so the product won't break down, but it just seems like such a waste to me.

I was a little skeptical trying another green dishwashing detergent especially after my last BAD experience (Palmolive Eco leaves a white film all over everything) but after reading all the great reviews, I decided to give green another try.
My everyday silverware sparkles and my glasses are clear and sparkly as well - all my dishes look GREAT! And I figured with our hard water I was destined for spots forever but I was pleasantly surprised with Ecover! There are fewer spots now then when I used Cascade. I do pre-wash all my dishes (but always have with all dishwashing detergent).
I bought this at Henry's Marketplace to try out (didn't want to buy 5 boxes only to find I didn't like it) but now I'm going to stock up now on Amazon! This is an amazingly great green product!
