Customer Reviews of Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream Facial Treatment, 4 OunceCustomer Review: Worth It Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this product for over 4 weeks now and I am very pleased with the results. I had sudden issues with eczema patches under my eyes that wouldn't go away with anything conventional and it was getting frustrating as I didn't want to always go directly to the use of medicinal cremes (which also gets expensive). I came across this product through online research and since it was natural, I figured to give it a shot. In about 3 days for myself it cleared up the patches and there are no traces of where it was. Also being a nurse, I'm frequently washing my hands so dry hands was an issue for me and went through lotions like crazy, but since I use this, my hands have been soft and consistently moisturized and I'm not needing to constantly re-apply anything. There is just a more healthy appearance and feel to my skin and by something so simple in ingredients. I haven't had any break outs either and I had a problem with adult acne for a bit which was a concern when I bought this, I'm hesitant to put anything new on my face but it really isn't pore clogging at all. What I want to emphasize is a little goes a long way. You don't need much and make sure to take the time to rub it in all the way. When you open the jar, the product is solid like wax would be, but rubbing it onto your fingertips softens it up into a very light oil almost and that's when you apply it to your skin.
I get what may work for me may not work for others and vice versa but honestly I would encourage people to give this product a try if you're looking for something safe and not chemical based. It may seem like the cost may be more than it's worth but as I mentioned a little goes a long way and this 4 oz will last me a very long time. I've barely put a dent in the surface and I've been using it for over a month. I'm assuming the combination of ingredients and the way they mixed it seems to be balanced to me which I feel is why maybe it works so well and why I wouldn't just go with anything out there that may have the same ingredients. I've tried "cheaper" things with the same stuff and I've broken out. I'm definitely ordering another jar for myself as well as for my mom.
Customer Review: Love it, but have a good cleanser! Summary: 5 Stars
A little about me:
-My reason for buying: to use as a moisturizer for my face and treat ends of my hair
-My skin type: Combination (Oily t-zone (acne prone) and normal cheeks and chin)
-No skin conditions and No allergies
My experience with EM:
First two days were fine. Made my skin smooth and hydrated. On the third day, I had spots on both cheeks and chin (itchy red pimples and dry flakey cheeks mainly around those itchy pimples). I thought it was odd, so, I tried using a clay mask to get rid of the spots, and I noticed that no oil of any kind came from around the breakout area. So, I stopped using the EM since it was the newest facial product that I tried. Then, I tried my old facial cleanser (Note: Cleanser that I used while using EM was Botanics deep skin brightening cleanser. The one I switched to was Clean and Clear Deep cream cleanser) and it cleared up the dry spots and blemishes overnight by about 40%. So, I tried the EM again, and my face didn't break out. It kept it very hydrated and works great!
What I use it for now:
- Nighty moisturizer for face
- Lip balm
- Cuticles
- Hand Moisturizer
- Heal scars (works best on recent scars from what I've seen)
- Eye cream
- Treatment for ends of hair
My pro and con list:
Pros:
- Works well for all the things mentioned in list above
- Lasts a LONG time
- 6 natural ingredients
- Not water based, so consistency doesn't change much
Cons:
- Smells faintly like iron (personally doesn't bother me)
- Packaging is very cheap looking
- Pricey (especially for those using it for skin condition)
- Comes in a tub (Unsanitary)
My verdict: LOVE IT! I'm probably going to use this for the rest of my life so long as they make it as is or better. So, I definitely recommend Egyptian Magic, but only if you have a good enough cleanser! (And remember, I used a drugstore brand!)
Customer Review: Wonderful Stuff but Pricey! Summary: 5 Stars
I love the plain list of ingredients in this salve. It's simply olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly, bee propolis and love. Yes, it says that on the label. I've heard you can make your own version at home, which is probably true since the ingredients aren't complicated. This stuff does not smell like something you want to eat, but has a sharp natural smell to it instead. It doesn't smell like honey, either. I'm fine with that because this stuff is a great a night time moisturizer for my face. It's too greasy for daytime use as far as I'm concerned. But for night, well, I love the way it sinks in and that there's no worrisome ingredients (I use mostly natural products). I have sensitive, acne-prone combination skin, and this is so good at soothing redness and fading acne scars. It also speeds up the healing of existing blemishes. It's got the texture of a hard lip balm, so if you just drag your fingertips across the top and warm it up in your hands, that's enough product for your face. You have to massage it in, your face will look greasy and all, but it has never caused any break-outs on me. It has literally tons of uses listed on the jar, the only other purpose I've used it with success is as a spot de-frizzer for my hair when it's dry. EM is not good as a lip balm though, just pretty basic, and it does not help with bruises as far as I've experienced. I did have a bad cold awhile back that left me with a red, peeling nose, and this stuff did an incredible job of taking care of it within a couple days. Awesome. I feel that this stuff is overpriced for what it is, a salve made out of mostly household ingredients, but a 4 oz tub will probably last me at least six months. And that's with using it every night. It costs $[...] at Whole Foods, so I'll probably order from amazon.com next time. It's got so many uses that I recommend it and feel it's a great buy and a medicine cabinet staple, especially for people trying to use natural products.
Customer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this product after using it at my brother's house. He said it sped up the healing time on cold sores when he got them and that he had used it on new tattoos to speed the healing as well and he really like it. I ordered it for myself after reading all the reviews on amazon and other web-sites and I can honestly say it is a great multipurpose product. I've always had problems with break outs and even though it has olive oil in it, it doesn't cause me to break out more. My skin has actually improved. I use it at night after washing my face with my usual face cleanser and I wake up with my face looking so well rested and just glowing. I've acutally had complements on my face lately. People have told me that I look really pretty and even younger, but they can't point out why, they just say something is different. I'm guessing it's the fact that my skin is clearer and my little lines that were starting to form around my eyes and my forehead do seem less visible. It also makes the red left after a pimple go away so much faster. Aside from my skin I also use a little bit in my hair and my hair now looks glossier and feels so soft. Plus I don't have to worry about my hair product causing my face to break out if I sleep on my hair or something, cause hey! it's the same stuff I use on my face already! Also, my little girls are half black, so their hair required the extra moisture and hair grease and this product does the job. Their hair looks shiny and feels really soft. And, because when you rub the product in your hands it turns into an oil-like consistency it's really easy to spread evenly throughout their scalp and hair without accidentally leaving clumps of the product in one area which is what happens to me with other hair grease sometimes.
It's an awesome product! I would recommend it to anyone!
Customer Review: Seems to have the consistency of a lip balm... Summary: 3 Stars
After hearing from personal sources that this cream was "wonderful," and would definitely help with my 6 year-old son's skin problem, I went ahead and bought some, despite the hefty price.
My son hates putting lotion on his eczema twice a day. He really liked this product because, as you rub it quickly between your hands, it warms up into an oil form, rather than a cold lotion, and applies to the skin as an oil, which might make it good for a regular massage.
This aspect, however, turned out to be more of a curse than a blessing, as it was then harder to break the habit and go back to cold lotion when it turned out this cream didn't work. We used Egyptian Magic everyday twice a day for a whole week and it had pretty much zero effect on my son's eczema. The smell of this stuff was subjectively not pleasing. It also didn't seem to do much for the perpetually dry skin on the backs of my hands, and made me look shiny, as though I had rubbed suntan oil on them, or as though I was in the process of being preserved for mummification.
I'm including the following information as an aside to those with eczema, because I have found it can be difficult and time-consuming to discover something that actually works. After using and giving up on Egyptian Magic, I found Johnson and Johnson's Baby Lotion with Vitamin E and Aloe. A lotion with Vitamin E and Aloe was recommended by my son's pediatrician. If you have a child with eczema, I would highly recommend using the Johnson's instead of this product. We repeated the same regimen with the Johnson's and noticed a remarkable improvement in the same amount of time. Not to mention, the Johnson's runs about $5 a bottle, and I can buy it at the grocery store.
