Customer Review: Really helped with arthritis

I bought this for my grandmother for Christmas. She has been suffering from arthritis in her neck, and she has been miserable for about six months. She had another collar she had purchased at a Wal-Ma@#. The collar she bought was a generic one for neck discomfort. She was waking up several times during the night from the pain, and she was getting very little rest. Her neck was hurting all day, and she her range of motion in her neck was severely limited. I bought her this and heated it up in the microwave as directed. She immediately told me how great the soothing heat felt on her neck. She has been using it for a few weeks now, and she feels so much better. Now she comes to my house without a neck collar on, and she is laughing a lot more. She is acting the way she used to, and seems so much more energetic. She says her neck is still sore, but the pain is so much less now. I could not be happier with this purchase and the relief it has given my grandmother.Customer Review: Great cool relief

I love the shape of the Elasto-Gel cervical collar and how it molds so nicely to the neck. It is completely flexible and provides nice relief.
I have used this item only as a cooler. I keep it in my freezer (in the baggie that comes with it) and use it when needed. The coolness only lasts for about 20 minutes but it is very soothing for inflammation of the neck (like a slipped disc which is what I have). This is not an ice pack, so it will not freeze the skin. It can also be used for heat--but I do not use it for that purpose and cannot speak about it.
As a neck cooler, I love it and am considering getting multiple collars that I can switch out. Very soothing and comforting also for MS (which I also have) during those times when I am overheating a bit. I just ordered the mask as well and have used this on my forehead for headaches. Extremely comfortable and easy to fit.

So this Mueller shoulder therapy was not what I originally ordered. I ordered the Elasto-gel cervical collar. I was sent this Mueller SHOULDER cold/hot therapy......even though returned (twice, because my replacement was the same wrong item) I can tell you it is a cheap not what you are looking for product. The material is the basic pull on brace type. The hot cold pack looks like the type you crush to activate, although it is suppose to last awhile. If you need something that last and rocks, look at the Elasto-gel products. I ordered the cervical collar for my husband. It to me seems like it does not get that cold, but he begs to differ. He has chronic neck pain due to an old softball injury and still plays so aggravates it all the time. He loves the flexibility. I loved the idea of this product, and it does fit nicely (although it's a little big for my neck, but I'm a small woman) which is the only reason I give it two stars instead of one star. This product simply does not get cold enough, and the little bit of chill it does reach, only lasts for 10 minutes at most. Same goes for the heating. As well, I recently put it in the microwave for 2 minutes to heat it up as directed, and on one of the creases, the gel/plastic somehow started to burn, pop and smoke. We also purchased the wrap around version for your leg, and it used a different type of polyester material (the neck one was cotton) to house the gel pack, and that material is completely snagged from the velcro strap and looks awful after only a few uses. I've had mine for about a year. Its large size, considerable weight and thickness, together with the large velcro strap, make it easy to fasten securely around my neck with good contact on the upper back and neck. I use it over a thin summer shirt, or under a heavier winter shirt. I also use it at bedtime, lying on my back with the pad between me and the pillow. This has been a particularly marvelous remedy for tense muscles in my upper back and neck. As other reviewers have noted, it is a little tricky microwaving it to just the right temperature, and it doesn't stay warm an extremely long time -- but these are very minor points in comparison with the strengths of this excellent product. My experience says this one is worth the money, and I have no hesitation in recommending it.
