Customer Review: OK for infrequent use, can kill batteries

Bought this as an upgrade to the standard energizer slow charger. Initially it was great, but over time found similiar issues that other people have had. It's very picky, it will reject batteries that the old charger would not. Plus I've found that repeated use of this charger will cause the batteries to take less and less of a charge until they're only lasting a couple of hours after charging.
Overall, it's good when you have to quickly charge up 4 batteries for your camera before you leave for a party. But other than that, stay away.

This really does charge batteries in 15 minutes...yee hah! But unfortunatley, when I bought this charger, I had a LOT of Duracell NiMH batteries. This charger rejects nearly every Duracell NiMH battery inserted, even though they charge and work just fine in traditional chargers.
It charges my Energizer, Sony, and Kodak NiMH batteries quickly and efficiently. But the frustration of still having to charge the Duracells overnight lesses my excitement for this charger.

I see that many here are perfectly happy with their functioning unit. But like many others, mine failed within a few uses. It charged the same batteries packaged with it 2-3 times initially, no problem. Now when I plug them in the light goes green, then red, and then it shuts off after only a few seconds, failing to charge the batteries.
From the other reviews here it seems your purchase might not fail on you, but know that it could just as easily be a waste of cash.

This is the fastest charger I could find & Amazon had it the cheapest. Also, it was a name brand, which I like to buy for these types of electrical items. It has a fan to cool down the batteries which get pretty hot during charging. I am very satisfied with this product.
The only negative is that it is fairly bulky for travel use & it comes as 2 pieces - one is the actual charger and one is the AC cord, which has a large block as the plug.

The batteries do not last as long as they say they do. It really is a "30-minute" charger if you read the packaging. The packaging actually says that to have the best charge, let it charge for 30 minutes. When you let it charge for the 15 minutes like it advertises, the batteries do not last long at all. I do not recommend this product. I'd much rather have a one-hour charger that I know will charge the batteries like it is supposed to!
