Customer Review: Tips when getting out of tub

I bought this for my 93 year old grandmother because it has so many adjustable heights, sturdy looking arms, and a back rest. It appeared to fit her tub perfectly! Unfortunately, she used the arm of it to stabilize herself while she climbed into the tub, and the whole chair tipped!
I adjusted the legs as low as possible -- even below the bottom notches -- yet it still tips when any weight at all is used against the arm to balance while climbing in. I also tried to have her simply store it sideways in the tub until use, so she isn't tempted to grab the arm for balance. It takes up too much room in the tub for her to safely climb in beside the bench, and even if she could, she'd still have to turn it to the correct position, then lean down with equal weight on both arms -- plus stand up with the same balancing weight issue.
I suppose if you're able to climb into a tub independently without grabbing anything at all and then pivot your body so you are directly facing away from the seat as you sit down, it would be fine. You also would have to be able to stand up without leaning at all toward one arm or the other, though. Let's face it: If you're able to do that, do you even need this chair????
I threw out the box last week when the recycling truck came by. Otherwise, I'd ship this back. Grandma has gone back to her original bench seat that has no arms or back to it. I was just trying to help her, but this turned out to be a $60 never-used total bust. Disappointing!
Be cautious and know your limitations if you buy this bench. The 2-star rating is overly generous! I really wanted it to work for my Grandma. Instead, I put her at risk.
