Customer Reviews of Eva-dry E-500 Renewable Wireless Mini Dehumidifer

Customer Review: Unhappy With Product
Summary: 1 Stars

I have a humidity sensor in my closet. Prior to owing this, my humidity level was 60-62%. My current level of humidity, using this product, is 60-62%. I do keep the door to my closet closed. The indicator shows blue. I don't know what I could be doing that would make the unit not work.

Basically (I guess) the dry/wet indicator has some colored balls in it and (I guess) the color of the balls changes from blue (dry and ready to use) to pinkish orange (wet and needs recharging). Also, the unit comes with a hook that (I guess) attaches to the holes in the plug (since I am unable to find any other holes for the hook to attach to). Finally, the reason I append my comments with "I Guess" is because of the instructions, which are not clear. Although not the worst instructions I have ever seen, they are quite minimal.

Customer Review: Helps
Summary: 5 Stars

My new apartment has a terrible moisture problem; there is condensation on all the windows, my clothes were starting to smell a tad musty, and any clothes I had that needed to air-dry stayed wet for a week. I bought a digital hydrometer, which said my relative humidity was well over 70%. I got a large dehumidifier for the rest of the house, and the Eva-dry EDV-E-500 for my bedroom. The humidity in my bedroom is down to about 45%. I'm sure this is due at least in part the the big dehumidifier, but this thing definitely helps; I put it on my windowsill, between the window (which dripping in condensation, and becoming at serious risk for mold) and the curtain, and a day later, most of the condensation was gone. Clothes now air-dry in less than a day. I have not had to recharge it yet, but the crystals are starting to change color.

Customer Review: UNKOWN DATA
Summary: 3 Stars

Well I really Don't Know! it looks cool, its cleaner then its competitors,(No mess, No water to dump, No need to buy refills) But seriously You cant really tell if its working on not. Sure the crystals change colors, But hell I use to have a shirt that would change colors- remember those (I know sad). Like I was saying my condensation problem is probably so bad this little thing has no effect. I don't remember the area it is suppose to cover, But I would think it might be good for a food pantry, as long as you didn't have any liquids or can goods in there then it would probably work. or maybe is you bought six or seven of them they might show some sort of result. In my opinion out of five It's a three Just for design. I can't give it any more unless I actually new the amount of water it was removing from the air.

Customer Review: Eva-dry dehumidifier
Summary: 3 Stars

This thing is huge. I suppose there are dimensions of it somewhere on Amazon's page, but I was surprised when I received it how large it is. Decided not to hang it.

I can't really tell how well it works. I bought it because my studio apartment stays rather humid, but it's too small to warrant purchasing a larger, more expensive dehumidifier. I have owned it for about a month, and it has not yet turned to pink crystals (ready to be recharged). It is placed by my heating unit, which appears to be the source of the problem, and I have seen less condensation (and resulting mold...eww), however, I also stopped using the heater so much... Combined effect, perhaps?

Moral of the story-- it's probably suited better to a smaller space, like a closet.

Customer Review: Falls off wall circuit and breaks - what a mess!
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased four of these units. After seeing pink balls on two of the units I plugged them securely into wall circuits and went to work. When I arrived home I found that both of the units had fallen out of the wall and broke. It took 20 minutes to clean up all the little balls and who knows what those little balls are and if they're harmful when rolling around loose - I know I couldn't possible have gotten all of them. You have to buy a strip circuit and have it sit on the floor when you plug the unit in. Eva-Dry needs to tell the user this!

I phoned Eva-Dry and left a detailed message for the Manager as to what happened and to please call me and he never returned my call. This is a company with no customer service, how sad.
