Customer Reviews of Eva-dry Electric Petite Dehumidifier

Customer Review: Great Dehumidifier for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

I read all the reviews and figured I would give it a shot. I live in Hawaii on the windward side. And we have a lot of humidity. I was finding mold growing on shoes and belts, so we tried the damp-rid products. They removed some of the moisture but mold was still growing. It was slower but still there. So I bought the eva-dry and stuck it in the bottom of the closet and kept the doors open. It has been great! I takes 4 days to fill up and the mold has stopped appearing. It was very quite for the first month but has become a little louder. But it runs 24/7 in the closet in the master bedroom.

I just bought a second one for one of the upstairs bedroom. And I am going to buy a 3rd one for the other bedroom.

It seems to handle a 12x14 room with no problem. Since I had 2 of them, I tried both of them in the same room. There was no real improvement having both in the same room. They just took longer to fill up.

For the price of these dehumidifiers, you will save alot in comparison to buying the damp-rid over a few months.

Customer Review: Does exactly what it's supposed to.

I live in a coastal region that receives high levels of moisture and humidity on a daily basis. To top it off, my house has bathrooms which have no ventilation, so we've often had to deal with mold problems. The answer to my problems arrived in the form of a small box-shaped dehumidifier called "Eva Dry".

This device works tremendously well, pulling moisture out of the air at a reasonable rate. The 16oz reservoir takes about one week to fill up, when I leave it running constantly. I use it in my bathroom mainly, but once in a while my bedroom will feel damp, and it handles the 12'x14' space just as effectively as it does the bathroom. My only complaint is that it's not nearly as quiet as I thought it would be, and the power cord is kind of bulky for bathroom use; I have to tuck it all away someplace, and my only outlets are on the counter, so that's a bit aggravating. The product loses one star for that.

I recommend this to anyone who has ventilation problems and needs to be rid of excess moisture in small to medium sized spaces.

Customer Review: Works well, but broke down too soon-IT WAS THE POWER THING NOT THE DEHUMIDIFIER THAT FAILED
Summary: 3 Stars

I have had mine for about 18 months. We have a large closet that has a trapdoor to a crawlspace, so we needed something stronger than the absorbent crystals but pretty small. This fit the bill, the price was right, and so we tried it. For 18 months we ran it pretty much 12 hours/day every day. It was quiet enough that I could go into the room, pause and listen and know if it was on or not behind the closet door, but never disruptive in the room. It got a lot of water out, needing to be emptied once or twice a wk depending on the weather. Then last wk it just died. So on overall performance for 18 months it absolutely would rate 5 out of 5 stars. Tempering that with such a short life, I have to give it a 3. Now trying to decide if I should buy another or look for something different. NOTE: I DID BUY A SECOND ONE: it turns out the original dehumidifier was FINE; the separate power cord/converter thingie is the part that wasn't working. So now we have two good dehumidifiers and are trying to reach the manufacturer about getting a new converter thingie.

Customer Review: Good, not great

We purchased the Eva-dry Petite Dehumidifier for our small bathroom that has no ventilation, other than a window. We live in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, so opening the window in the winter to ventilate after a shower is not an option, and we thought a dehumidifier would help with the mildew.

The Eva-dry works okay. It definitely takes out moisture, and we haven't had any new mildew problems since purchasing it. I am a little disappointed that the results weren't as dramatic as we'd hoped. BUT in all fairness, we run it for maybe a half hour after each shower, not continuously, so it would probably work better if we ran it all the time.

I know some people were concerned about the cord plug-thingy (the technical term escapes me) getting over hot; it certainly warms up, but I haven't had an issue with it being too hot. Again, this might be because I don't run it for very long at a time.

Overall, this serves our needs fairly well - these dehumidifiers seem to be hit or miss, so I'm not too disappointed.

Customer Review: Good idea, poor execution
Summary: 1 Stars

After reading mixed reviews about this and similar products online, I went ahead and gambled on one. It arrived with some broken plastic (not packaged for rough handling. The device seemed to turn on and draw current ( I checked with an amprobe) but failed to work, not a drop was in the device after 24 hours run time. I even placed it in a high humidity environment the next day and it still did not remove any moisture. Odd, since it was drawing a fair amount of current and the fan was running. I decided to return the item, and had no problems with the return. I would avoid this product as many have complained about them not working or failing quickly. A case of a good idea being poorly executed by a Chinese company. I was hoping it would work as I can't stand the noise conventional dehumidifiers make. These peltier device dehumidifiers draw about half the current of a convential compressor based design. So not a great deal of energy savings here, especially when they don't work as advertised. A definite thumbs down!
