Customer Reviews of Eva-dry Electric Petite DehumidifierCustomer Review: Works well for small spaces Summary: 5 Stars
Eva-Dry EDV-1100 DehumidifierEva-dry EDV-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier
I've had this for 2 months and am very happy with it. It removes small amounts of water from the air in my gun safe. The typical 'golden rod' type safe dehumidifiers are just low wattage heaters, reducing humidity by heating the air. The EDV-1100 also heats the air with its 25W of power consumption, but uses the power to actively remove moisture. The water collects in a well 'sealed' container. The only downside is that it switches off when the container's full. My poorly sealed 30 cu.ft. safe in a very damp basement needs emptying about every 2 weeks.
It has no compressor hum just a quiet fan noise like an old PC. If the fan fails, as some have commented, I plan to replace it with an inexpensive computer case fan.
Customer Review: Works great for small bathroom, power supply is an issue Summary: 4 Stars
In our bathroom mold builds up on the ceiling, so I bought this dehumidifier. It worked great, mold nearly stopped and the mirror cleared up almost immediately after a hot shower. I plugged it in and it basically stayed on for 14 months, then died (two months after the warranty ran out). It still works mechanically as the internal components are very basic (the only moving part is a small fan). The problem, as is probably so with most others that just stopped working, is the power supply. You can purchase it from Eva-Dry for $25 shipping included, which wouldn't make sense based on the original purchase price, or for under five dollars online, however the minimum order is 1,000 units. Quite absurd for one person. Hint, hint. Someone a little business savvy with a small nest egg could start something here. Until then, I have a perfectly good dehumidifier with no power. Planning on buying a new one.
Customer Review: Very Good option Summary: 4 Stars
This product is doing more than I spected. Can dehumidify my room constantly. At first 36 hours the reservoir is at 3/5 of its capacity at 60-65 % of Relative Humidity inside the room, measured with Celestron 47007 Weather Station.
Is too early to judge if the product can improve my health, but it's a lot of water absorved. That was what i need.
Regular size for a room. You can travel and carry it with you easily.
The AC adapter is small, and gets hot (not much) quickly... I hope it does not burn or overheat.
In my small room, the heat exchange for condensing, plus the heat generated by the AC adapter, plus the heat in the FAN ar not able to raise the room temperature.
The fan inside the unit can be heard along a very quiet and small room, but i'm used to sleep with that kind of noise.
Recommended!
Cheers!
Customer Review: So far... so good.... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my bathroom (apartment, no window... need I say more) and as most reviews said, it definitely isn't going to totally dry out any space, it's simply too small, but it has done a decent job of keeping it dryER. I bought it around 3 months ago, it still seems to be working, I use it 24 hours a day in the master bath, with a wall shared with my headboard and don't hear it (light sleeper) so that's a plus. As a warning, my co-worker bought the same machine a couple years back and only uses it during the winter, and she said it ran for 2 winters, but then stopped. I haven't gotten that far yet, hopefully it lasts longer than a year for me. If not, well... $40 isn't so bad for a year right? Better than a monster machine for $300 that won't even fit in the bathroom. Otherwise, so far so good... just don't expect it to completely dry out a room as humid as a bathroom :)
Customer Review: Only Last a Year...BUT......!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I live near the coast in my RV during the winter and I absolutely LOVE these! I have had both of mine for 2 years and between the two of them they keep my 34' RV completely dry. I run them constantly at seperate ends of my RV. It takes about 5-7 days for them both to fill up.
HOWEVER, regarding the comments made about them only lasting a year....after about a year both of ours did stop working. We sent them back to the Eva-Dry manufacturer as they have a 1 year warranty...we were just under the year. What they are having problems with is not the unit itself but the power cord "box". That is is the part that has been going bad. If it is under a year Eva-Dry will fix them and if it's just a cord give you a new one! I'm on my second year and now looking for just the cord!
Because of this they lost a star with me too.
