I gave this (empty) to my 3.5 year old daughter to play with for an afternoon to see if she could figure out how to open it. She can't open it. It's an extremly small mechanism that creates the lock so it is difficult to find as well as almost impossible for someone with poor (childlike) fine motor skills to open. Also, it only opens one dose at a time so if, God forbid, a child did get it open, they would only get into one dose before you, hopefully, caught them. I am now back to buy another one for her vitamins, which are very tasty and tempting to children. It's not a license to keep your vitamins/meds out where your kids can get them, but it's a little added protection for things that are so risky to have in the house.

7-DAY LOCKING PILL REMINDER- LARGE The unique patented design of the 7-Day Locking Pill Reminder features a locking device that prevents pills from spilling inside your purse, briefcase or suitcase. Also, lids won't accidentally open and spill the contents when dropped. The locking device also works as a child deterrent by making it more difficult to open than a pill reminder without a locking device. Directions for use: (A) To open any pill compartment, simply press on the locking tab as shown. (B) While pushing the locking tab in, push up on the compartment lid you wish to open. (C) The compartment lid automatically relocks when closed. To convert the 7-Day Locking Pill Reminder to a non-locking mode: The locking bar can easily he removed by opening all the pill compartment covers and sliding locking bar out. To replace the locking bar open all the pill compartment covers and slide it into the pill reminder.
