Customer Reviews of FairHaven Digital Basal ThermometerCustomer Review: Average Thermometer Summary: 3 Stars
I think this thermometer is about average. There are definitely better ones on the market and there are certainly worse ones out there too.
Pros:
-Beeps every time you do something, which is good for taking your temp in the morning when you are barely awake
-Has a recall feature, though it is hard to push that little button long enough to see it.
-Has a cute little pink end, which deters your husband from stealing it off your nightstand.
-You can print additional temperature charts (it comes with one) for free from the manufacturers website.
Cons:
-It reads about 1.5 degrees higher than both of my other thermometers (I bought it because of the additional decimal place in the display -- easier to detect slight changes)
-The probe is REALLY thin, and I feel like I can snap it off with my tongue.
-It takes longer than other digital thermometers that I have used. I don't necessarily equate taking longer to read with being more accurate, so I'm going to go ahead and mark that down as a negative.
Overall, I'd say that you can get about the same product for a couple of dollars cheaper by going with another thermometer. Amazon does group this one in with some pregnancy tests and ovulation predictors, so maybe that's enough to make you buy it. (Hey, that worked for me.)
Customer Review: Batteries are no good Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this thermometer and it only lasted for 23 days before the low battery indicator came on. I used it for about 1 week to 2 weeks after that and then it barely turned on and was so weak I couldn't trust the temp reading anymore. I gave it a lower rating because of this.
The memory recall feature is nice, but it really does flash by way to quickly for my liking. There has been several times where I would have to turn it off and back on again to see the reading because I missed it.
It is sturdy and not easily breakable. I also like how it has a pink end to it. In the end, I would recommend a different product then this one because of the short battery span. Its just to much money to spend on something that can barely last a month. If it wasn't for that then I would consider it a good thermometer.
Customer Review: Does the job for little money & effort. Summary: 4 Stars
Not top-of-the-line, but this works very well for me, and for a very reasonable price.
+it is inexpensive
+it is accurate
+beeps when finished
+beeps when turned off
+has recall of last temp
-no backlight [but not claimed to have one, and frankly, I don't test until sunlight's filtering in or husband is up in the other room with light coming down hallway, so the point is moot for me]
-takes 2-3min for temps sometimes [again, not a big deal for me]
For the price, this was worth it for me. It's a great, inexpensive way to chart and, in my case, practice FAM to avoid pregnancy -- and eventually have great records of my cycles for when I do want to conceive.
Company ships quickly and in good, protective packaging, too.
Customer Review: Does the job but is a BASIC BBT Summary: 3 Stars
I just started using this thermometer about a week ago. It definitely does the job--takes your BBT in a timely fashion. The beep isn't too loud which is great since I take my temp at 5:30am and my husband is still sleeping. I really do not like that it does not have a lit background. At 5:30am I do not want to have to scramble for a flashlight or my cell phone to light up to be able to see the temperature to write it down. It does store the temp for the next time you turn it on but it literally only flashes for about 1 second so you have to be quick to see it! But for the money, it definitely does the job it is meant to do. If you want the lit background and longer recall, then you will pay more.
Customer Review: Memory Feature Doesn't Work Consistently, I Mis-Recorded Data Summary: 1 Stars
One reason I got this model was the memory feature that records the last temperature. It doesn't work consistently. The bold print directions said that it displayed last temperature recorded on start up, so that's what I was recorded for a few days. Oops, the fine print instructions say it always displays 97.70 on start up, and to display the last recorded temp you must hold down the start button. However, the threshold between holding down the on/off button while starting means it gets turned off half the time. So the morning routine is: press and hold on/off button, see quick flash of numbers, now it's off again. Couldn't tell what they were. I'm buying a different model.
