Customer Review: The best, bar none, skin protector around.
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I am a redhead with very fair skin; so are my two little girls. I am able to stay in the sun during the hottest part of the day, swimming, and I do not burn. This is the best sun screen bar none. My girls and I were in the sun from about 10:30 AM until 1:00 PM; swimming and sitting for awhile. The sun's rays are always more apt to burn when reflected by water. None of us had even a pink spot, and this was a blazing hot, direct sun day.

The water resistant aspect of a very strong sunscreen is just one of the many aspects that makes this product the best on the market. My skin felt smoother, my eyes didn't burn as they so often do with other protectors.

This is the first time I've used a product that blocks UVB and UVA rays --I didn't even know there was a problem. But when I get out of the pool and clean up -- I am not burned anywhere. I do not think there is another product on the market that could beat this one for protecting and moisturing your skin.

Enjoy swimming, walking in the sun, jogging on a sunny or overcast day and feel safe knowing that your skin will be protected. You won't have a very uncomfortable burn of any kind. One of the other really nice features is that there is a slight aroma and it is lovely, and it fades fast ... so even if perfumes, body fragrances, men's cologne bother you -- this won't. The color is a light tan, but it blends into your skin, so even I, miss whiter than white, looked a little tan. (It washed off easily.)

As a kid I got burned badly at the beach; I haven't spent much time in the sun since then. I've used products as they came out, but they didn't protect me well. I love being able to go swim any time of the day. An early morning swim with the sun rising and already covering the pool, or a late afternoon. I don't burn. This is a miracle.

Have fun in the sun!

Customer Review: Passed the Road Test

I had the perfect chance to test this product under pretty severe conditions last weekend: a three-day bluegrass musical festival in northwest Kentucky, two days of which were spent outdoors from about noon to almost midnight. The festival was held in a county park that offered very little shade to serious fans wanting to listen to the music directly back from center stage. For that reason, I was exposed to direct sunlight (wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses and a shirt with three-quarter length sleeves) for several hours at a time.

I wasn't sure how heavily to apply the sunscreen on the first day and purely by chance I went a little light on a couple of places on my face. My arms, hands, neck and ears got the thickest application - and it showed when I returned to the motel that first night. I could see exactly which spots I either missed entirely or went light on because those places had noticeably reddened even though I didn't feel any pain or "heat" from those spots.

I was more careful to apply the product evenly on the second day and had much better results. I was out in the sun for approximately 12-14 hours over the two days and managed to pick up a little bit of a tan with zero burning. I'm convinced that the product did its job.

My only complaint is that where I sweated most my clothing came away somewhat "stained" by the sunscreen I applied: where my baseball cap touched my forehead and along the collar line of my shirt. Both areas had a "whitish" line from contact with my skin but it is very possible that the "stains" will vanish when the cap and shirt are cleaned.

Overall, I am very happy with Fallene Cotz SPF 58 sunscreen and will use it again. I'm rating it at a 4.0 rather than a 5.0 only because of the way that it came off on my clothing - a problem that may not be all that serious in the long run.

I walk the dog every day (sometimes twice a day), and during the spring and summer I end up using a lot of sunscreen.

I hate sunscreen that smells or that's greasy, and this sunscreen is neither.

It goes on very smooth and absorbs quickly. It also doesn't leave a tacky or slimy feeling to my skin. My hands do feel like I've put on some lotion, but they're not slick or sticky.

The best part is that this lotion has very little scent, if at all. I smelled my hands after applying it to my arms and legs, and could only smell a very faint "sunscreen" chemical smell.

It states it's for sensitive skin. I applied some to my face to test, and my skin didn't react at all. However, I should mention that my facial skin is not super sensitive. I have friends with very sensitive facial skin and even "sensitive skin" products cause them problems, so if you have that too, I'd suggest testing some on a small corner of your face first. It didn't cause my face any problems, but that might not be true for someone else.

I also didn't have to apply very much in order to be protected. I used an amount smaller than a pea for both arms, and less than that for my face, and I didn't tan at all after about an hour in the sun at noontime. However, I also didn't reapply four hours later when I went out for another hour and didn't tan then, either, so the product lasted about 6 hours for me on one small application.

It's a bit expensive, so I don't know if I'd recommend this unless you're particularly sensitive to the typical smell of other sunscreens or like the fact this is mineral-based.

In all, a very nice product.

Customer Review: Awesome sunscreen for us red heads!
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Being the fair skinned red that I am, I have to watch how much sun exposure I get or I get burned badly.

First thing I noticed was that the stuff is almost a rust colored but rubs in completely invisible and doesn't feel greasy at all, it feels more like liquid baby powder as you rub it in. The other thing that I REALLY liked about it is that it's fragrancy free (I'm allergic to most fragrances), no smell whatsoever!

So to test how well it worked I slathered a bunch on my neck, face, arms and legs then headed outside to work on the car in full sun (100+ degrees even). After a few hours of sweating like crazy the stuff still seemed to be doing it's job and hadn't rubbed off.

After a full day of being outside in full sun I can honestly tell you that my neck, face, arms, and legs are not even the least bit burnt. Even with a higher SPF sunscreen like Banana Boat, my neck and face would get scorched after a few hours of being in the sun, but not with this stuff.

The only complaint I have is that is can stain light colored clothing, bit in all reality this is a very minor drawback.

This product deserves nothing less then five stars for how well it performs, it is just amazing and I will not use anything other then this for now on! I believe in the product wholeheartedly.

Pros:
Goes on smooth and isn't greasy.
Works better then any sunscreen I've tried before.
Doesn't wear off easily.
No perfumes, smells, or anything to cause irritations to the skin.

Cons:
Cost, but it works better then anything else out there.
Can discolor light colored clothing.

Customer Review: Truly Safe for Sensitive Skin
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Given that I have extremely fair skin (my standard joke is that my melanin count is measured in negative integers), I rarely head outdoors without at least an SPF 15 on board (this is pretty safe because I'm indoors most of the time anyway). So even though I'm pretty happy with my current protection, given that my skin is quite sensitive, I was glad to have the opportunity to give this a try. It turned out to have its pluses and minuses.
My primary concern is protection for my face and it turns out that this really isn't appropriate. On the plus side, it didn't irritate my skin at all--a minor miracle, especially during the sweaty dog-days of July (this could be due to its being PABA-free). But not only is it too heavy to function as a moisturizer that can be worn under my light base, it's occlusive as well (translation: guaranteed clogged pores). So I'm afraid this will never find its way onto my face again.
On the plus side, I liked it fine for the rest of the exposed me. It worked well on my hands, chest, and neck and even though I still found it somewhat sticky, I guess this is to be expected with heavy-duty sunscreens. To be honest, I don't spend enough time in the sun to know if this would protect me from burning over a long period of time, but it's fine at least for the short term (did I mention how easily I burn?). All in all, it seems to be an effective product; however, the lab that develops a lightweight, high-SPF sunscreen that's non-occlusive, appropriate for sensitive skin, and can double as a facial moisturizer is going to attract a VERY sizable customer base.
