Customer Review: Decent protection.

I'm European, from the Portuguese persuasion. My color a bit darker than the color peach from crayola crayons (if that helps any). I usually never get red sunburns, but it does happen. I usually get tanned on my arms during summer because I wear a lot of t-shirts. I almost never wear sunscreen either because I hate the feeling and I hate spreading it.

I went to Hurricane Harbor a few weeks ago and tried this stuff for the first time. I spent a total of 8 hours there and only applied this stuff on once when I arrived.

The cream comes out the color of skin. After I finished applying it on my face, it looked like I did a bad job applying makeup. I couldn't spread it until it disappeared. Although it did disappear sometime in later. I didn't dunk my head much in the water that day, but I'm not saying that my head didn't get wet often.

At the end of the day, I had slight redness on my cheeks, and it didn't hurt. Overall, I'm happy with the protection with just one application, I just wish it didn't make me look like a drag queen afterward.

Customer Review: So far I'm not burned...

I'm going to take this stuff through two review cycles. First, I'm trying it out on a sunny Seattle day. Now, that might sound like an oxymoron, but we are having our 8th sunny day of the year... after all, it is almost July. Put the stuff on earlier and hung out in the sun. Haven't had an allergic reaction, it wasn't greasy feeling, and it rubs in clear. I also haven't gotten burned. So, so far so good. It is a thicker ointment than some of the creams, which I actually like, because i hate when they come flying out of the tube and then get wasted. I also like that it is only 2.5oz, and thus can be carried on to an airplane without the TSA taking it away. Thus, I am going to take it with me on a trip to sunny climes and see how it does there. It also doesn't leave you smelling like a coconut.

Active ingredients are the same as white paint...

Update: I've now tried this out under the intense Hawaiian sun. I've worn it everyday. No burns, no skin rash. It is a little bit thick to apply (unless it is warm), but overall, happy with it.

Customer Review: Not odorless, not my favorite, but does the job

I wonder if I am just in an overly sensitive mood, but I didn't care for this as much.

I am very fair-skinned, and burn easily, so I use a lot of sunscreen. I am also somewhat sensitive to skincare products, but not overly so.

I dislike the smell of this product. I know it's fragrance free, but it doesn't smell good--has a slightly chemical smell or something, but I really noticed it and as I wore it longer, and got warmer, it seemed to smell more.

It doesn't really dry clear. I am pale, and noticed that I had a hint of the product's tint on my neck and some on my face. It's a pale beige color, and doesn't exactly match my skin tone, so was noticeable to me. The good thing about the tint is you can see if you missed spots, but I felt like I looked like I had a lousy makeup choice. Maybe it disappears or appears to if you are not pasty.

I did not get sunburned using it, so I suppose it does the job. I wore it a few times while working in my yard, pulling weeds, hanging laundry.

Customer Review: Not the best I've ever used

I love all of the features of this particular sunscreen with regards to it being more "natural" than other brands. I do not feel that it is anywhere near the price. I used it on myself and on my children. I didn't notice a sunblock factor in any way superior to the tradtional spf 30 I've used from many other brands. It still had to be reapplied frequently, as with other brands, it didn't smell particularly good and left my skin feeling a bit sticky. I will say that after about 45 minutes of wearing, the "sticky" feeling goes away, but I noticed a lot of fine bits of dirt and fuzz clinging to my skin, which was annoying. The only big pro I can say about this is that chemically-speaking, it is healthier for the human race and I felt better about putting it on my children than the more chemical-laden products. On the other hand, there are many other companies producing natural sunblock products costing significantly less then this. Overall, it is a good product, but not good enough to warrant the hefty price tag.

Customer Review: Safe and effective, but may discolor clothes
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I like that this sunscreen is rated one of the least toxic by the Cosmetic Safety Database. Zinc oxide and titanium oxide are considered the safest, most effective materials available for sun protection and this combination of the two, by Fallene Cotz, has the advantage of feeling less slimy than most sunscreens containing these two minerals.

I was somewhat dismayed by the fact that the product has a tint to it and my skin is quite fair, but it wasn't noticeable even on my face. The box says that it "dries clear," but that is only partially true. While I couldn't see any visible change in my skin color with it on, the tint did come off onto a white napkin when I wiped my mouth. But the product did a good job protecting my face and neck from tanning and burning for an hour in the summer sun, and even after a full day of wearing it, my skin never felt greasy.

I would definitely order this product again, although I wouldn't use it on my body if I were wearing light colored clothing.
