My problem with the "drugstore" straighteners has always been that I have VERY thick, sturdy, but undeniably wavy hair, and I could never get my hair as flat and smooth as the salon could. So I decided to buy what they use. At less than half the price they charge elsewhere, I couldn't pass this one at up!
I bought this product from Amazon 3 months ago and I think it's terrific. I haven't had any problems with it at all, though I don't use it on my hair every single day. (More like every other day, or every two days.) However, I do treat my flat iron with a certain amount of care. I've never dropped it. I make sure I only turn it on when I'm about to use it (it heats up in about 60 seconds!), turn it off as soon as I'm finished and I don't wrap the cord around it to store it. I've even traveled extensively on business with it, and it's been great to have.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants salon-straight hair, however there are a few cautions.
This product gets EXTREMELY hot. You may see heat coming off your head when you use it. Be careful if you have fine, damaged, or processed hair! I took off half a star because a product at this price point should have some kind of temperature control.
Along those lines, I took off another half a star because there is no auto shut-off. Something this hot is probably a real fire hazard, and I'm sure it's not good for the product to leave it on all day. Again, at this price point, that would have been something simple for them to add.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this product.

Words can't describe how happy I am with this product. I've been using straighteners for about 10 years, and up until now I've only ever used the cheapy $30 kind you can find in any given drugstore. My last one started going down hill when it wouldn't like to re-open after running it through my hair. That got old real quick. I decided to finally shell out and buy a CHI, since all of my girlfriends who own one say it's the best. It's light years away from the cheapy kinds. It's small and slim (I hate clunky, bulky products in the bathroom), it heats up SO FAST, and it's comfortable to handle. I know there were some complaints about there being no low heat setting, but this isn't a problem for me personally, since I always used to the highest setting in my old one anyway. I have thick, wirey, unruly hair, and without the use of a straightener my hair tends to look like something Cowardly Lion'esque. This straightener actually styles my hair! It leaves it feeling silky straight. I have no idea what the difference is between the CHI and my old cheapy, but my hair styles 1,000 times easier now since using this. I keep my hair cut to my shoulders with layers, and before my hair would be frizzed half-way through the day from the Florida humidity. Since I bought this, my hair stays straight all day long. I'm kicking myself for not buying this much sooner. I'll never use another straightener ever again. The biggest plus of all was that I was going to buy it from BBB with a 20% coupon until I saw it here on Amazon. Even with the 20% discount, it's still cheaper to buy it here than in a store. My hair is shoulder length and slightly curly. Growing up my hair was very straight, but it changed about 10 years ago to wavy; now I want straight hair!
I've wanted one of these for a while but haven't purchased one myself and waited until Christmas to get one. I was very excited to get this. I took it home Christmas night and turned it on. Within 10 minutes, my hair looked sleek and not frizzy as it can be sometimes.
There are two main things that could be better:
1. A section that protects your hand from getting caught when you close it around your hair. I don't have huge hands and the side of my hand can get slightly squeezed if you're not careful. Also, the iron can get a little hot even though the outside it plastic. Because the plates get so hot, it carries through if you leave it on long enough.
2. A stand to put it on would be nice. There's nothing protecting the surface (in this case my sink counter) I put it on when it's resting. It's be nice to have a small stand to place it on since it gets hot. Definitely don't put this on a soft/cloth surface.
Also, watch out when touching your hair after you've run the iron over it. Your hair will be hot!
It's been about 2 months since my hair was last cut. Last night I went to a party and my friends asked me if I had just come from the salon that day! I had blown dry my hair at 10 am then used the straightener. The party was at 9 pm!

I already own a 2-inch Chi flatiron that i purchased off amazon a year ago which is awesome but doesnt curl so thats why i am looking into purchasing a 1 inch chi flatiron. While browsing i noticed that this flatiron is not on the Chi farouk official website which makes it a KNOCK-OFF....
Be careful when looking for chi products on amazon they are alot off fakes like the spring curling irons that have been for sell on amazon for the past few years... about a 2yrs ago i was about to purchase this item then i noticed how all the reviews on the product were very negative compared to the reviews of the chi 2inch flat iron i had purchased. i thought something was fishy because the item was supposedly make by chi and i had a chi chi flatiron and i was wondering why their curling werent just as good. so i went to the website and i called Chi customer service and they told me they do not even make curling irons...
Luckily just this fall chi has released their NEW digital ceramic curling tools Collection that are the real deal...You can check out these chi products and more on their website....
if you are looking for real quality and want to make sure that you are getting a authentic Chi check out the website and make sure that the chi tool that you are thinking about purchasing is featured on this website otherwise it is a good chance that it is a fake...

My daughter has long naturally curly course hair. We have tried two different straightening irons over the past 2 years, both would take about 2 hours to 'truly' straighten her hair. I am so amazed at this product! We can now do her hair in about 20 minutes, and it looks as good as when she gets it done at the salon! She has even started to use the iron herself (about to turn 14 yrs old). We have not had any instances of burning her scalp or ears (unfortunately this would happen every few months with the other ones) as the plates on this one are slightly in from the edges (other brands were not). I read many review on here before deciding to go with this one. I was first inclined to buy a 2" one because of her long thick course hair - you do not need it. This one definately does the trick! I took the chance on having no warranty buying from here, but for the price difference, I feel it is worth the risk (I priced them in the salon at $37 more than here). This iron does get very hot - so make sure you buy some type of spray protection to put on your hair too, so it won't damage it. I love that it has a swivel based cord, so it doesn't get all tangled up. It also has a very long cord, which is nice because before I always had to use an extension cord (we usually did her hair on the couch/floor in front of the TV). You will not be sorry you bought this!!! The time it will save you over the store bought ($50 or less) straighteners is sooo worth it! Get your life back! :)
