Customer Review: It's Great - When It Works and Doesn't Fall Apart

I just threw mine out...
Not long after I got my iron, the plates fell out. Tried to contact the mfg and they never responded, so I took it upon myself to find some automotive stuff that would hold the plates in place under the extreme heat it produces. It worked, and I continued to use it. A few months ago it started going off and on. You have to play with the cord to get it to go back on. Recently, it started doing it more and more, and when I finally saw the blue sparks, I decided it was time to trash it, which I did so today.
I have 10 different irons, yes, you read right, 10 - unfortunately, none of them compare to the Chi when it comes to the job it does on my hair. But, I won't buy another Chi at that price. If I find one at a yard sale or a thrift store, fine, but I won't invest in another one at full price if a company won't even respond to it's customers when there's a major problem.
It seems I'm not the first person who this has happened to and Farouk, not recognizing this problem should be ashamed of themselves. I met one other person who had the same problem as I had with the plates falling out. If you Google Chi Plates Falling Out you'll see others who've had issues, esp. on [...]
Again, if you are one of the lucky ones where you have no problems with the workmanship of the iron - it works great, but be aware, you can easily have trouble with this and be left without any recourse from Farouk.
Customer Review: No frizz -- even on rainy days!!

I just love my new CHI ceramic flat iron! This amazing tool allows me to straighten my unmanageably curly hair, and adds so much softness and shine it's unbelievable (and my husband really likes the results). The reviewer who said they can't stop touching their hair is right.
But a major plus: I just came in from the rain and my hair is not the least bit frizzy! Also my hairdo even lasts all the next day (so I don't have to use it every day), and I also found that my hair does not get any static in the winter!
I have never used this iron without the CHI styling products (Infra Treatment conditioner and Straight Guard protectant), so I cannot vouch for how it works without those. But since I want to protect my hair from burning I always use those products first, as this iron gets VERY hot in less than half a minute (so protect your countertop w/ something like you'd use for pots and pans).
It is lightweight and very easy to use once you get the hang of it. I have thick hair so I use a butterfly clip to do sections at a time, and it goes pretty fast. This iron seems to be pretty durable as well, because I dropped it on the hard marble tile floor and it still works perfectly!
It is not a cheap iron -- but definitely worth it if you want to be able to straighten curls (or even create soft curls/waves/flips), while eliminating frizz and static, and making your hair look and feel healthy, soft & very shiny!

I got my hair chemically straightened over a month ago, and after a few washes the waviness was beginning to reappear, despite my taking precautions to dry my hair straight. I was extremely frustrated, both by the waste of money, and by my hair's general unruliness (especially around the ears and at the top of my forehead) and decided that I'd have to buy an iron. I've long dreaded the thought of having to spend hours and hours straightening my hair, only to have the waviness reappear within half a day.
This iron, however, is fantastic. After washing and drying my shoulder-length hair, I put a few bursts of the 44 Iron Guard Thermal Spray on it, and after combing it through my hair, I section and straighten my hair. I suck at sectioning/straightening, but this iron is extremely manageable and easy to use. I have not burned myself with it yet. If I straighten my hair, it stays straight for a few days. Once in a while I have to touch up the hair that falls closest to my face because that is the hair that I end up touching the most, pushing it behind my ear, etc.
This iron costs like $115 at most stores that I've seen. The thermal protection spray is also really expensive. But if you buy it through these Top Discount Beauty guys on Amazon, you can get the iron and two bottles of the spray for around $105, shipping included. That's crazy awesome.
It's taken me about two years to decide to buy this iron, and I only wish I'd gotten around to it sooner.

I never realized that a higher end flat iron could make such a difference in my hair style. I have fine-medium hair so I figured a cheap drug store hair striaghtener was all I needed. When my old straightener broke after a year, I considered buying a very expensive model my friend recommended, but at $150 I couldn't justify it. The CHI ceramic hairstyling iron is a high end product without the high end price(Approx $60). It only cost 1.5X the price of my original drug store brand and it performs at 10X the straightening power.
I have had so many compliments on my same hair style after switching to the CHI hair straighener. It was a better investment than a new hairstyle. It is a superior product at a very reasonable price for the performance.
The CHI straightener heats up very quickly and delivers high heat, so I only have to straighten each part of my hair once, rather than restraightening a section over and over again like my old straightener required. I feel this is damaging my hair less, because I am exposing it to the heat only once.
My hairdresser assured me that with my fine-medium hair I did not need the fancier tourmaline products and she was right. This CHI ceramic flat iron provided all the straightening power my hair needed.
This straightener made such a difference in my hair that I bought a second CHI hair straightener for my daughter who kept borrowing mine once she realized how much better it was than hers !!!

Farouk says .... see below ... that no online (internet) retailers are authorized to sell its products and that those for sale online are fakes/counterfeits. Buyer beware, mine broke, Amazon refunded but still offers item on its site.
