Customer Reviews of Fine Wood Paste Wax 1lb canCustomer Review: 60 Year Old Advertising Pays Off Summary: 5 Stars
I like to listen to old 1940's radio shows. One of my favorites is Fibber McGee and Molly... presented by Johnson's Wax.
I've heard hundreds of the old ads pitching the product and finally decided I had to give it a try.
The problem was finding it. Then, while going through a closet at my mother's house I found a can that had to be sitting for close to 40 years. To my surprise when I opened it the wax seemed like new. I took it home to test it out on the dining room table.
WOW. What a shine! It is a lot of work compared to products like Pledge but the results are amazing and... unlike Pledge or other quick shines it LASTS.
And, unlike the quick and easy products it isn't a dust magnet.
If you don't mind doing the work, similar to paste waxing a car, you will not be disappointed.
Customer Review: 50 years using Johnson's Paste Wax - Still the Best Summary: 5 Stars
We had hardwood floors in our home when I was a child, and every home I've owned since have had them. I love older homes so sometimes the floors have been covered and get dry from the carpet sucking out the moisture. I've tried several other products and always come back to Johnson's. A few coats of that wonderfully oily Johnson's wax and they come back like new. And the smell? Guess it depends on what is offensive to you. For me, it brings back wonderful memories of my Mom and me on Saturday mornings telling stories and laughing while we waxed the floors.
Customer Review: Goes on easy and comes off easy Summary: 4 Stars
I used this wax on a travel guitar as recommended by the manufacturer (Martin). The wood on the guitar has an open grain to it, and I was afraid the wax would get stuck in the grain making the entire guitar look terrible. But, that did not happen. It softens quickly, went on very easily and buffed up to a nice satin sheen.
I would have given it 5 stars, but I have no idea how long it's going to hold up or what's going to happen when the guitar gets rained on. That said, the wax gets excellent reviews on other web sites so I feel pretty confident.
Customer Review: sc johnson paste wax Summary: 3 Stars
shine ok but wax on wax off and not fast or easy to use called manf do not use with food ie butcher blocks etc,,glad i called ,i believe best use is for hardwood floors, with power buffer.better products availible for furniture, the smell is certainly not what id want just before guest comming over either, best if has time to air off, also must be used on sealed surfaces not open or unsealed butcher blocks accordind to manuf..should be a one star for furniture, but the call made me think sellers are not knowing the best applications for the product'
Customer Review: finest product of it's kind Summary: 5 Stars
this is the original formula it says on the can (and yes the can looks like the one in the picture). it is now made in mexico, smells the same and looks the same as the tried and true stuff you find in seasoned wood shops. a must have for machined steel tools. can't imagine using a table saw, hand plane, or hand saw without it.
haven't been able to find it any local retailers big and small. they all have the paste finishing wax. haven't tried that stuff i like this.
