Customer Review: Flossing Made Easy!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a dentist of over 20+ years experience, I have seen over and over again the results of not flossing one's teeth. The unfortunate result of such neglect is inevitable gum disease, which over time leads to tooth loss. Gum disease almost always starts in-between the teeth and the only way to clean the germs that cause gum disease from between the teeth is with floss. Mechanical scrubbing with floss is the key, and all the daily brushings and rinsings will not remove the in-between stubborn plaque below the gumline. The bottom line is that we need to floss our teeth if we want to keep them for a lifetime.

I have heard all the excuses for not flossing: The floss is too hard to handle, my fingers turn blue, my fingers are too fat, I'm too clumsy, the floss hurts my gums, etc, etc. The Flossaide Dental Floss Holder removes most of these excuses. Of all the floss aides available, this one is the best. It has a long handle to reach way back in one's mouth, the floss is easy to load, the device is strong and will last years, and best of all, it is reusable. No more having to run to the store because the disposable flossers are gone! Load it with your favorite floss and you are set for healthy gums and teeth.

I have recommended this floss aid to my patients over the years and I strongly recommend it to you as well. One still has to develop the habit of flossing daily, and this device aides in the mechanics of flossing, making it a breeze. Get it and save your teeth!

Customer Review: Not taut enough
Summary: 4 Stars

It doesn't really hold the floss taut enough to get in the hard to reach areas, and if your teeth are tight together, the lack of tension might prove to be a bit of a challenge to get the floss in between the teeth. I've had the floss get stuck between my teeth and I had to unwind the entire thing from the Flossaid to pull the floss out. No amount of tightening it made it taut enough. (I don't have a problem with things like the disposable flossers or the Reach Flossers.) That's just the way it is with these type of flossing tools. I've had similar ones in the past and they're all like that. The plastic does bend/flex a bit and if it was a sturdier, harder plastic, it may provide more floss tension, but then again, it could cause the Flossaid to snap. It's a give n take so it's fine the way it is. Just gotta learn to work with it. With a bit of patience this gets the job done and it's more economical than buying disposable flossers.

The Flossaid is a bit on the wide side so if you have a small mouth, or if you plan on getting it for children, it might not work well.

I still think that Reach Flossers and disposable flossers are easier to use, but having to buy refills for the Reach Flossers for the entire family gets really expensive so the Flossaids will do fine.

Customer Review: much better than disposables
Summary: 5 Stars

This kind of floss holder used to be common before the disposable types came out. When my previous one broke (I'm not sure how old it was, around 10 years or so), I searched many stores locally without success before I found these on line.
There are several advantages to this type of holder compared to the disposables:

- Use any kind of floss you want (waxed, unwaxed, dental-tape, whatever)

- long handle allows me to get the back teeth without jamming my fingers in my mouth

- around 1" of floss exposed; easy to work into difficult areas (I have very close set teeth and have to work the floss back and forth to get between some of them)

- The device allows enough control that I can also use it to stimulate the gums around the teeth (OK, a disposable can do that too, but its hard to get fine control with my fingers jammed in my mouth for the back teeth)

- A spool of floss lasts about a year, the handle should last many years.

- The handle is easy to clean, just rinse it like a toothbrush. It doesn't come into contact with your gums; it just touches the inside of the cheek.

Customer Review: Get a different one
Summary: 1 Stars

I wish the pictures were better. This particular flosser is about as long as a toothbrush, and the prongs are about 1-1/2" apart. There's a little button where the prongs meet where you wind the floss around--this is held in place by a brass tack/rivet kind of thing. The prongs are angled, and at the end of each one is a shallow groove, which holds the floss in place. The handle is a bit less than 1/4" thick.

Anyway, this feels really flimsy because the material just isn't robust enough. If I really pushed it, I'm pretty sure it would snap--it would be much better if it were made of steel or something. There's a lot of "give" when I'm moving it around in my mouth, and so that plus the design of the prongs (you can see they're at an angle, which really restricts your movements), makes the whole thing really awkward to maneuver.

Disposables are much easier to use, but if you're convinced you want a refillable flosser, search around a bit and see if you can find the "Ezy Floss" which feels a lot more like a disposable.

Customer Review: Perhaps the Best Floss Holder on the Market
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the flosser I use in my office. It has a stout plastic handle with two forks with slots for easy loading of a piece of dental floss (of your choice). The floss is secured by wrapping it around the mid-handle button.

This flosser enables the user to reach all areas of the mouth quite easily. No more purple floss-wrapped fingers!

With three to a package, this is a bargain, as the flossers will last years. Get one for each family member!

Flossing is often the most overlooked oral hygiene practice, yet, is essential for cleaning off plaque from between the teeth. Flossing prevents cavities in-between the teeth, and also cleans away gum disease pathogens. Brushing and rinsing is not enough - make flossing a part of your daily oral hygiene habit.

The only floss that I have (occasional) problems loading onto the holder is Glide. It is "slippery" and may loosen, therefore, it takes an extra wrap or two around the handle button.
