Customer Reviews of Foot Baths - heated foot bathCustomer Review: Buyer beware.... Summary: 4 Stars
this is not a review of the product, but a short blurb about my experience with ordering this item from Brookstone, via amazon. My receipt is labled brookstone and the communications were with brookstone, through amazon. I rated the item four stars so as to not terribly skew the ratings.
I tried to return an unused footbath. I purchased this item from Brookstone, through amazon.com. The package arrived as scheduled, shipped from Brookstone with a Brookstone receipt and no amazon receipt. My wife decided she did not need the item and requested I return it. I went through the amazon site which linked me to Brookstone customer service.
I sent an email to Brookstone from the amazon website, inquiring about the return policy, this is what I received:
"We want you to be satisfied with every item you purchase from us. If a product purchased at Brookstone does not meet your expectations, you may return it with a receipt either to a Store or to our Returns Processing Center within 60 days of purchase (some exceptions apply). All returns must be new, unused, and contain all original packaging and accessories. Returns made within 30 days of purchase with the original purchase receipt are eligible for exchange or refund.."
So to me that meant I could take the unused Foot Bath in it's original container, to any brookstone, with my receipt to get a full refund. Let me just add that the item was shipped to me from Brookstone and not amazon and had a receipt labeled "Brookstone" with the return policy written on the back. The return policy was as stated above as well.
So what happened was a flat out denial by the store manager to accept the return. I had to argue with her for several minutes about getting a refund. She said since i purchased it from Amazon, although through the Brookstone store, she said I couldn't exchange it. I even told her about the email i received saying that I could. I ended up having to call customer service while I was in the store. I was told that yes, indeed, I could return the item to any store. HOWEVER, if i returned it to the store, i could only get a store gift card and that I could only get my money back if I mailed it to them.
So talk about "misstatements"....This was totally in contradiction to their return policy. Oh and by the way, while we were there, another customer was trying to return their foot bath.
Customer Review: Feels great, but the effort is taxing Summary: 3 Stars
I know - my husband's lazy. But that's just when he gets home. He's on his feet all day, so I thought that he would love a foot spa for Christmas. I did my research, and found this spa to be the highest rated, more bang for the buck. I was a bit wary shelling out as much as I did for this spa, when I could've experimented with the $40 spa around the corner at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but this looked to be the master of foot spas before you get to detoxification.
A few things you should know before you buy this:
1. You cannot use any bath oil or salts. Don't be tempted by the upsale on your screen flaunting them in the herd instinct. Everyone who buys this foot bath with those tantalizing salts realizes when they actually look at the foot spa manual that you can't use them. You will risk ruining the product. If you don't like the luxury of add in products, then you're in the right place.
2. It takes FOREVER to heat. I mean it. My husband, though a sentient of patience at his job, just wants to relax when he gets home. A half an hour to heat seems a little much. In his view, it takes too long. If you want to do yourself or your loved one a favor, heat it up 30 min. before you plan to get it. Personally, I dump the salts in the bath and save myself some time.
3. The foot bath itself is ginormous. That can be a good thing if you have larger feet and want to save yourself from buying another product and having to send it back. However, it's bulky to store and hard to clean. My husband just left it in the hallway ;o(. For a petite lady like me, that meant I had to haul it up to the bathtub to dump it. And he hasn't used it since.
4. Don't be fooled by the lure of the "massagers". They're rollers at the bottom of the spa, that you have to move with your feet. Lame! The jets, however, were quite nice.
In summary, this product lacks the luxury of the advertised spa. It's bulky, takes a long time to heat, and it's not cheap either. While I'm known for my knack for getting a good deal, sometimes you just have to ask someone personally how they like it. For me, it's a small price to pay for the knowledge considering I'm just going to buckle down and buy that hot tub after all.
Customer Review: Wonderful - hot water and powerful jets! Summary: 5 Stars
I received this foot spa as an anniversary gift from my hubby, and I love it! Straight out of the box, I had hot water within 5 minutes, and plenty of bubbles to sooth my soles. :) Was also pleased with how quiet this unit is, allowing me to watch a movie without even increasing the volume.
PROS:
- Not only keeps water hot, but will actually heat it to a comfortable temp and maintain it for as long as you want!
- 2 Powerful jets -- yes, they really are powerful! -- positioned in front of tub, sending bubbles over your toes; jets are adjustable in both direction and intensity
- Quiet operation (could compare to someone using a hair dryer behind a closed door in the next room, or the neighbor mowing their lawn while your windows are shut.)
- Large capacity allows for water to cover ankles; also allows for some movement of feet and/or accomodates larger feet
- Can be used with or without heat feature
- Handy remote control operation (they even include the batteries!); remote stores in top of unit
- Large splash guard works well to prevent spray and spills
- Easy to set up and operate
- Nice pumice stone included to smooth away calluses, which can be used in unit or removed to use by hand
- Sturdy construction, lightweight, easy to move, easy cord storage
CONS:
- Could have used another 2 jets at the rear of the unit
- Slightly bulkier than other spas (I don't mind this at all, but some might)
- Rollers on bottom of spa do nothing. They are hardly big enough for even my flat feet to feel, and to use them you have to rub your feet back and forth... Kinda hard to do they're confined in a tub.
- Does not include any additional features or powered accessories
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this foot spa. If you're frustrated with cheaper models that only leave you with cold water, wimpy jets, and jet-engine noise, I highly recommend spending a little extra for this product. I will certainly be enjoying mine for a long time!
Customer Review: This spa gets HOT. Very nice. Summary: 5 Stars
I have been having fairly bad foot pain for several years.. been to doctors and such.... and was in the market for a heated foot spa.
The reason I thought this might help, I have a membership to a gym and the heated hot tubs always felt great. So, I decided to look here on amazon for a product.
It was hard to make up my mind. There are plenty of offers.. but I was looking for a heated foot spa. I had read a review on this one that stated this foot spa gets 'very hot'.
This is true.
This foot spa gets very hot!!
Pro's: The foot spa gets HOT!!! In fact, it gets so hot my feet appear to be lobster red when I pull them out of the spa. If that is a pleasurable experience for you, then this spa is the one you want. I love the hot, hot water... it makes my feet feel great. However, it isn't for everyone I suspect. My wife does not like it this hot.
The Remote is great. It is not necessary. But, it is nice. And it works very well.
One point should be made about the size. My feet are a size 9, and fit very well. I would this size 12 feet would be the max, but that is a guess. Lots of room.
Cons: It was noted that the water takes a long time to heat up. This is true. Takes about 20 minutes. However, you can shave that time in half by putting hot water INTO the device and not putting cold water into it. So, to me, this is not a real CON in that sense. 10 minutes is not long to wait to get hot, hot water.
I don't have a lot of pro's and con's because there isn't much going on here.. .the water gets hot, there are responsive controls (heat on or off, air inserted in the spray or not) so.. really there should not be too much more to say. I would buy it again. And it if it dies in a year or so, I will get another one.
NOTE: Even though it has a splash guard, I put a large down under my spa. I have hard wood floors and the towel gets a bit moist by the time I am done.
Have fun.
Customer Review: From a very picky person....... Summary: 4 Stars
It just came today 4/7. I am using it now. Here the scoop on the foot bath. If you see a comment saying the heat does not stay on, it's true. It has an automatic 1/2 hour cut off. Simple turn the heat back on. Rollers are inserts, you have to move your own feet but there are pluses. It comes with a pumice stone. It has heat. It suggested room temp or warmer water but I put in cold to see how long it takes to heat the water. Under a minute was all it took to get the heat going. It has high and low water jets with adjustable air pressure for the jets. I wear a 7 1/2 shoe and if I place my feet on the roller the right way the jets blast water up my toe nails which feels uncomfortable to me but I am a woman and my nails not clipped to the nub. Solution: I put my heels on the rollers and prop my feet up with the arch on the jets, still feels good. Hint: to avoid misting water from the jets (on high with high air pressure) don't fill to fill line. Yes, it comes with a splash guard and remember I did say 'mist'. It tells you not to put anything underneath to avoid fires but I would suggest having your towel in a U around the machine to catch misting water. Still using it, water is getting much warmer now. It has a remote that turns on the power, heat and jets - the remote does not adjust the air pressure. It does say 'do not use bath salts or oils due to possible clog of the air holes'. It's too expensive to muck with so I'll save the salts for the real bath. The package was not damaged. I can't speak on the noise, everyones house has different acoustics but it's a machine, it going to make noise. All in all it's the only one I've seen with a heater that actually works. It was worth the money to me.
