Customer Reviews of Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support

Customer Review: Serious Complications
Summary: 1 Stars

I used this product on both feet. And had almost immediate relief but there is a risk involved that is nowhere mentioned.

Because the splint is designed to rest on top of your foot to get results you must wrap it tightly around the ball of the foot. This caused a Morton's Nueroma between my toes.

If you think Plantars is bad - you have another think coming. Now as I work to get over the symptoms of the Nueroma the Plantars is coming back. I'm sure you get the picture.

Use this product with great caution. Although my Dr. will not go on the record of blaming this product I have a high degree of certainty that it caused the problem.

Go see a Dr. - get professionally made orthotics - and use one of the other boots - they're more expensive because they are safer.

You mayend up spending a lot more money eventually anyway - I know I will as I face multiple cortizone shots and possibly surgery.

Customer Review: Wish I'd done it sooner!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading Amazon customer reviews in August of 2009, I purchased this foot brace. I was a little dubious about its benefits, but wore it faithfully. As for the Velcro closure... It did snag on the blankets, it did slip off of my toes during the night, and it did have less holding power than I'd have wished. But, I took that all in stride and after 12 weeks, almost to the day, I realized that I didn't have to get up gingerly at night for fear of a charlie horse in my plantar fascia muscle. I am so glad that I bought it. The original recommendation that said it might take up to 12 weeks, was right on target. I only missed 2 or 3 nights during that period, and always performed foot stretching exercises against the wall to aid my foot's healing, as well as wearing proper shoes with soft orthotic insoles (from ArchCrafters). I'd recommend this Futuro product to anyone who has aching arches!

Customer Review: 1 Night Review
Summary: 5 Stars

I've tried inserts ($5 cheap ones up to almost custom $60 ones) and they help during the day, but every morning I wake up and can barely walk.

After 1 night, I knew something would be different. One foot (with the splint) was lose in the morning vs the other foot (without) being tight with pain as I stepped out of bed.

These work but a little advice.

Don't put them on too tight the first night. Goal is to not allow foot to stay close to standing angle vs high heal (not that I wear high heals).

I started with them on tight and found that the calf tightness was keeping me awake. I may adjust it tighter as time goes by.

I'm a stomach sleeper which doesn't allow the ankle flex at night (does the opposite) and is one of the key causes of my planters. If you are a stomach sleeper and have planters, try one of these out!

Customer Review: not enough stretch
Summary: 2 Stars

I owned two of these for both my legs with achilles tendonitiis. The way it's made CANNOT keep your feet held at a 90 degree angle. That person in the box picture is probably straining their toe up to make it look like that. This is because no matter how tight you have it at the calf, the natural position of your feet causes it to slide down, and therefore lose the angle for the stretch. My legs are skinny so it might affect it as well. I dont know how useful it would be if you dont need 90 degrees but it really was useless for me. I suggest getting a boot. Boots might be a bit bulkier but I found them to actually be more comfortable to sleep with.

2 stars for the possibility that it can work for someone with thicker legs or someone that doesn't require anything close to 90 degree stretch.

Customer Review: Needs a redesign; one size DOES NOT FIT ALL
Summary: 1 Stars

This brace might work if it stayed on your foot! My ankle is 1" larger in circumference than the smallest size of the range they give on the box. However, when I wore this brace in bed, just wiggling my foot a bit would allow the brace to begin sliding down -- I could easily just wiggle it right off my foot. No matter how tight I fastened the straps (any tighter, and your foot starts to tingle), there is still too much room to flex your ankle and point your toes. I think one big improvement would be to offer the brace in at least two sizes -- a smaller brace might have worked better for me. But the basic design is flawed because it does not keep your foot at a 90-degree angle to your leg. This is the only plantar fasciitis brace I've tried so far, so I cannot compare it to any others.
