Customer Reviews of Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support

Customer Review: More painful than helpful
Summary: 1 Stars

I could not find a happy medium of tightness with the Velcro closures. The instructions say to attach the upper part about 2" above your ankle. No matter how tight I closed it around my leg (short of cutting off my circulation), it kept sliding down - which defeats the purpose of the 90-degree angle for your feet. I wear size 11 women's shoes (not small feet!), and while the Velcro around the toe area was about the right location, it would either slide off (if too loose), or I would wake up - sometimes within an hour of going to sleep - with the sides of my toes in pain (if I closed it tight enough to stay put). I tried this for more than two weeks and have not been able to get this to work for me. Time for me to look for a better splint - you really do get what you pay for.

Customer Review: Actually works
Summary: 5 Stars

After suffering many months with the pain of planter faciitis I bought this splint, and the Lumiscope Arch Easers. I have been using this product for almost 7 weeks. It does work. The pain has abated considerably. It's not entirely gone, but it's about 60-70% better at this point. Not difficult at all to use, and not uncomfortable it just takes some getting used to. The only complaint I have, is at this point, the velcro is not sticking as well as it should (I have cleaned all the fuzz out of the velcro, but it didn't help),and that makes it difficult to get it as snug as I need it at night. In the morning, I can tell if it wasn't snug enough, as the heel pain is more obvious when I step out of bed. But I would say this is well worth purchasing.

Customer Review: Best solution so far
Summary: 4 Stars

Not perfect, but much better than the DorsiWedge, or "Big Boot" as I call it. The Futuro goes on easy and is much less of a hindrance to turning over during sleep. With the DorsiWedge, you practically wrench your knee because of the bulk of it. The Futuro is hardly noticeable. My only negative is that if you need to get up during the night and don't want to disturb your partner, it is kind of hard to get it back on correctly without seeing what your doing. The velcro at the front of the foot is OK, but the velcro at the leg position must be threaded through a slot in the plastic part and tightened that way. Might be a little better if you could just wrap around and fasten. In general, it is really pretty good and worth the price.

Finding this splint was a God-send. I'm a fairly avid runner and have had my fair share of running-related injuries. I recently had my worse flare up of PF ever brought on by a case of too much too soon that stretching and custom orthotics couldn't defend against. The morning of my horrible flare up I couldn't stand to put any weight on my heel. Continued stretching and icing made the PF bearable, but I feared another painful morning. So I used this splint the next night and in the morning I could actually put weight on my heel!!! As for sizing, I have fairly large feet (1.5 D women's) and the splint fit perfectly. I had the common sense to know to readjust if I felt any numbness in my toes (which I didn't). Thank you Futuro!!!

Customer Review: Relatively comfortable, effective plantar fasciitis aid
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this a week now. Can't manage to keep it on all night, but I'm able to sleep a couple of hours with it, then take it off, then put it back on a couple of hours before getting up. It's made getting up in the morning a new experience -- no pain!

This should also help people who have nighttime calf and foot cramps, which are often caused by having your foot extended (pointed) all night (stomach and back sleepers especially).

I strongly recommend also buying "The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution" (book), which discusses what does and does not work for this condition based on randomized clinical trials. Night splints do work, but the best thing is regular (3x/day) stretching of the plantar fascia.
